Just made my first trip to see the newly reconfigured track this past Friday and was super impressed.

Other tracks seem to have car count problems not an issue here had a 20 car B main in the 360's- fantastic!

Darn good racing all the way thru although the 5 car nonwing feature got boring in a hurry.

Great 360 and 305 features though plenty of 2 lane racing throughout the field.

Usually when a track is totally redone we cannot be sure if  it was done correctly but I would have to say you guys did it about perfectly.

We can sit here and cry in our beer and pound our pud fantasizing about what "might" happen at Badlands or we can take the quick trip east and support what IS happening at a beautiful, very racey facility!

TQ, CZ, Doug J great job you guys hit it out of the park. Really looking forward to the Lucas Oil LM show and 10,000 to win All Star show!

Seems like some track owners out there that get it - smaller tracks are racier and easier on equipment(especially motors). 1/3-4/10 mile tracks are still plenty fast. Better racing, saving teams money - it's a win-win! I wish some of the 1/2 miles in PA would follow suit. I also think tracks that are more round shaped tend to be racier than tracks with long straights. Width and banking also play a key factor.

I no I'm going to get hammered on for this but Tod has turned Jackson into the top dirt track in the country when you look at at everything track size pits camping concessions and parking close to the track also the view of the track from anywhere in the stands I don't think there's any place better including Knoxille Wheatland or Badlands    Glen Murra

Also add Gregg Bakker to the list of those getting the job done at Jackson Motorplex. He's doing a hell of a job with track prep and  he and the crew are doing really well keeping up with race night track conditions.

Highlights from the 360 A main.

Looks like it was a heck of a race! They work out the long restroom and concession lines at this place, it will be close to perfect! Then again, I have only been there for the big shows, so I'm guessing on a regular Friday night it is a non-issue. But, being able to watch the race while waiting in line is a nice feature. Looking forward to the All Star show end of July!

I'd agree with that.

Few years ago Gregg did the track prep at Huset's and while he was doing it the track was usually very good.  For the few years prior to Gregg doing it usually appeared that there wasn't anyone doing any track prep at Huset's.

The lone time I've been to Jackson this year was probably the best race I've ever seen at that facility.  It was also the fastest moving program that I've ever seen there as well.   Hopefully that is the trend there.

Sure wish that Todd would somehow end up owning Huset's as well.   Pretty sure he could make Sunday nights work...

I wouldn't hammer you for saying that but the only way we could say that is to actually attend every dirt track and that ain't happening?

Glen Murra? The beautiful #21 street stock on Fairmont Speedway Archives? wink

I agree hopefully TQ can work out a deal on Badlands ownership I am sure he would do wonders with that track.

I'm not even sure why people would even want to go back to Husets/Badlands if they ever reopen?

The powers that be have made Jackson Motorplex a major race destination, not Husets anymore. Jackson just hosted a 3 day WoO event that paid $40000 to the winner, they have races that support the IMCA racers/fans, they have non-win 360's and 305s frequently, they have MSTS and Nebraska 360s regularly, and they have 410 shows in conjunction with the IRA and All Stars. The race purses are pretty darn good and the ticket prices are priced appropriately.

Badlands isn't even open....so no argument

Jackson hasn't skipped a beat since new management took over a few years ago, hard to say that with Badlands. The track provides entertainment for the fans, a chance for drivers to make some money, provides some full-time (part-time) jobs, helps the local economy (gas stations, hotels, restaurants on race night).

It's about time that Sioux Falls area race fans drove to Jackson every weekend instead of the opposite. If Huset's ever re opens, they're going to be behind the eight ball and have to catchup to what Jackson is doing.

Kudos to Jackson Motorplex in sticking to their guns and doing the right thing and they're still in business, a tribute to ownership and mangement.

Is this TQ Tod the same guy who operates Knoxville? So he runs both tracks?....

Also, I thot Knoxville prided itself for never running a fneder car. I see late models on their schedule. Are late models something new to Knoxville, or just not as highly promoted? Do they run other fender classes and how long have they? Why did they start if it is new?

Thanks

No Tod has nothing to do with Knoxville he owns Jackson Motorplex as for late models at Knoxville they have the late model in late Sept for 3 days and I think they have a 1day IMCA Mod show during the fair    Glen Murra

Yeah you're right about the purple 21 I was hoping it was stepping stone to a sprint car but just didn't quite work out that way and yes you are right I shouldn't have said top dirt trackin the country as I only have gone to sprint car tracks and I have missed a few of those mainly the ones in Oregon and Washigton  Glen Murra

This will be the 15th Annual Late Model Nats so I wouldn't call that new. Its also some of the best racing they have at Knoxville in my opinion.

Also the Harris Clash (modifieds) ran there for years.

They also have dirt trucks during the fair. Usually with the Saturday night sprint car show. Only about 10 - 12 trucks ever show up. Basicly IMCA stock cars with pickup truck bodies.

Now that's real intelligent,  Sioux Falls metro area population 250,000 and driving almost 2 hours compared to 15 minutes to watch Sprint Car racing!

Awe come on guys- This started as a thread to give credit where credit is due- Jackson Speedway. We really don't need round 49 of the Badlands pissing match. Tastes great/less filling/ whatever.

If you haven't watched the video linked above yet, watch it and tell me that Thomas Kennedy won't someday be a champion. He spun out of the lead, did a 360 and then chased down  and passed the two cars that passed him to win!

I counted about 8 or 9 lead changes and it looked like 3 different leaders.

Jackson is a beautiful facility and has it going on when it comes to sprint car racing.....TQ, CZ, and DJ have done as awesome job...also GB as it's been mentioned above..........speaking of the video of last weeks 360 action......one question.......depending on different tracks and sanctioning bodies, isn't the yellow is usually thrown when a car spins or does a 360?......I know some make great saves, but more often than not, when a driver gasses it up to do the 360, no one (including himself) knows for sure where he'll end up and sometimes ends up in a bigger mess.......thoughts?

Having worked on the flag stand at Jackson as the asst. flag man I would sorry with no asst.flag man on the flag stand that  Kenndy spun so fast the flag man didn't have time to put the yellow out and as former asst flag man from my experience I would have turned on the yellow well the flag man was pulling in the green flag and Kenndy would have gone to the rear PS doing this takes a flag man & a asst flag man that have worked together and no what each other are going to do   Glen Murra

You're exactly right.

Nebraska 360s has a rule that doing a 360 is an automatic yellow and the driver goes to the back.

MSTS does not have that rule. Jackson does not have that rule. Knoxville does not have that rule.

In the past, at Huset's - if a car did a 360 and Doug Clark would pull a yellow - it would be ruled an inadvertent caution and that driver would go back in line where he/she was before the caution.

The last I know, the WoO place the driver "where he/she would have blended back into traffic" in the event of a 360 and caution.

What the best rule is - that's up for debate.

Back on topic - Jackson Motorplex has a great thing going and everything there deserves credit.
