Husets had PPV
|
I know. And it's still a valid point. To make a go of it, they should be able to market some PPV business far and wide to add to the revenue stream. You've been to Husets. It's an action track. Most nights PPV would be good entertainment.
I felt like the experiment should have done a better job in marketing the PPV experience to those outside the immediate area. Maybe they did and we're not aware of it.

About 100 of those $50,000 South Dakota cows.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

What would happen if you started the show at 6:00 pm and had the fendered cars run their complete show, heats and features 1st, then run the sprints at 7:00? This should put everyone on the road home an hour earlier. That means 1st heat green flag at 6:00 pm Sharp!
|
You wouldn't have any fendered cars because their families/friends/fans would have to sit and wait until the sprints finished to get to the pits. That means disgruntled familes/friends/fans/drivers.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

(Note: Eagle Pit Shack Guy's post is in response to me asking about the idea of running the complete fendered class program starting at 6:00 with sprint program to follow afterwards.)
They have to wait now until the program is over, so nothing would be changed there except being done an hour earlier if they wait till the races are over, or earlier than that if they didn't have to wait.
However, the answer is easier than you think. Have the fendered cars pit outside of the track. When their portion is finished, cordon off that portion of the pits, which abuts the parking lot, and open it up. Families/ friends/ fans and a cold one.

You'd rather have cows than racing, cold beer, hot women or pennies falling from heaven? Moo!

If I hear Chuck Brennen's name one more time I think I'll puke.
I believe that some day, Husets will be bought and someone will open it back up.
Some simple questions:
1)What would you like to see at Husets?
2) What would you be willing to pay for something like that?
3) If you're not a local, what would make it worth your while to drive a ways for a show at Husets?
Difficulty factor- In this discussion, we can't use the words Chuck, Brennen, Badlands, Rubins, asking price, election, payday loans or Mongolian Beef. That's mostly history at this point. This is us talking about the future. What do you think?
|
There is no value remaining. Teams, drivers and fans have moved on to other tracks. I do like Mongolian Beef though.

I dunno. I've seen Rock Rapids, Hartford and Park Jefferson come back to life after being dormant. (I know- Hartford is dormant once again, but maybe someday....) Besides, the Sioux Falls area has a hefty population and a history of racing.

AMEN Runge! I agree on every single point! BTW....I almos had forgotten about the bomb. I think that was my mother’s favorite part of the show when we would go as a family when I was a kid.

yuo Had all that it was there.if that jerk chuck didn't come in and take on the world! 1st press day he said Knoxville who? Then said he was going to run them out of racing , made all this shirt up about husets going to be the place to race. Maybe he mite of came in worked with the other tracks around so the drivers can run more times a week, not have to pick? And run less, not be as cocky that made some fans jump in and talk.then the law changed? But people own company's all over in states they don't live in . Just hire a good man to run it and move. That keeps the doors open and plans moving forward . He just run his lips 1st then found out racing is not that simple plus takes more then a lot of money,he'll maybe kiss or gene should of came down to help run it. Bottom line is chuck came in scewed shit up for a couple years turned tail and ran that left a good racing place without a track thanks chuck .i loved to watch Wolfgang run trostles 20 car I'd love to pick his mind that 1st press meeting Doug was there for support or to watch the circus I wonder.

I know everybody wants to bitch, piss and moan about ticket prices but as a guy who hasn't golfed in decades I checked into the prices at local golf courses and was blown away by how much that costs...... has there been any backlash with golfing now a lot less popular then it was in for example 1975 because of how much more expensive it has gotten. Jesus I remember going as a teenager in the 1970's and I think 9 holes was like $1.75.
