to each his own and they are all good. saw my first [no wing] sprint car race at TSS 10 years ago and have only seen one winged race since.
Prayers for Johnsons, RIP.

Aha, true hardcore. I noticed on IOW that some guys refuse to even say "wingless"... it has to be "traditional"
|
This is not like, "what came first, the chicken or the egg". We all know that the traditional car came first, so there's no need to say wingles, when their either traditional or non-wing. You have to remember too, that for more than a few of us we were around Sprint Cars for many years before putting doors on the top became the rage. Heck, I was 21 in 69 and had been around open wheeled cars all my life, and they still didn't have cages on them yet in S Cali!.. Better yet, a winged Sprint car is a modified Sprint Car, right? So a winged Sprint Car could very well be called a Super modified, or a modified Sprint car. BIG GRIN..... Oh, the Arizona Speedway has been doing a great job with the Western, and with a lot of the national guy's, along with the CRA boy's getting a 360 ride too, or bringing their own, it's been a great two day show with a good car count. Some day brother, some day.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

So you wrote "Running on Empty" for Jackson Browne? That's a good song.

I like to watch mods on 8" tires. Seems to be constant action and the racing is really close because there are on average between 200 and 250 restarts in every race.
After that, its winged for me.

But this is coming from a guy that has probably only seen budget non winged cars
Real race cars don't have fenders...

I'll take winged racing for sure. I like speed and the faster the better. Brady Bacon had an excellent full page article in Sprint Car and Midget magazine or was it Flat Out, two months ago. He didn't pick one over the other but bragged on both types of racing. A great article. I only saw one USAC non-wing sprint car race and on a 3/8th mile track and didn't care for throwing the car sideways at the flagstand. Just seemed odd.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

Yep, we both were living in S Cali at that time, and since we were both 21 in 69, and I'd already helped him with the lyrics to "Doctor my eye's" as he'd found me staring at the sun after a hit of of Orange Sunshine, and then got me medical attention, well, I kind of felt obligated after that. Actualy, he based The Pretender off me too.
