while i love to watch both of them
after watching the usac race at port royal
i m starting to lean toward wingless
if the track would of been a little bit smoother i think the race would of been better
but bacon and windom going back and forth was awesome and the top 5 nose to tail most of the race was great
all of the of the car on edge the entire race was fun to watch.
but don't get me wrong i will go see any good sprint car race that gets near to me winged or wingless
guess i am going to have to make a bullring race with the usac my next bucket wish
i hear any kokomo race is a site to see

I really, really like watching the wingless guys. A lot of action constantly. I got to four of the Eastern Storm shows last year and loved it. I was kinda bummed to miss out on the shows this year.

Winged, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I went to BAPS, and I watched all the highlights from elsewhere. They put on a good show (much like how Street Stocks are capable of producing a good show) but the speed of a winged sprint car can't be overcome. The racing at Lincoln, BAPS, etc. in Winged 410s is often just as exciting. Maybe they aren't swapping the lead 50 times per lap but that isn't the only measure of a good race. To me watching drivers follow someone trying to figure out the best spot to make a pass, etc. builds up and is just as exciting. I know Wingless is popular but not for me, I'll stick with Winged.

If you liked them at the Port, you'll LOVE them on a bullring (lots more wheelies coming out of turns!) I wish USAC Eastern Storm would run at Path Valley
You're right about Kokomo, or any Indiana bullring for that matter (very few big tracks there)
My first one was Haubstadt, on the way to Knoxville a few years ago. I was instantly sold...
I've been to 6 races so far this summer, USAC Midget week at Montpelier was by far the best

"7 days a week, 365 days a year. I went to BAPS,"???? You must really like sitting at an empty track....

Having attended many sprint car shows at Devils Bowl over the years, I gotta say the best racing I've seen at that particular track was definetly wingless. They used to have some USAC vs CRA shows back in the eighties. Constant side by side racing and you probably could have covered the top four cars with a large tarp. The winged cars may be superior on the stop watch, but not when it comes to the quality of the racing. Heat races are especially boring at Devils Bowl, whether WoO or ASCS.

Winged for me, but i do enjoy wingless, and Kokomo is a top 3 track for me having seen only the wingless cars there.

Ive seen alot of races ( Im kinda old) and i have to say the truth is a good race can break out in both types (wing/non wing). I think the most important thing is the track prep. It's simple, a good track prep equals a racey surface (multiple grooves) equals a good race. I have to say one of the best races I have every seen came a few years back at a BOSS show at Lernerville. It was just great, sliders galore. The winner decided on a last lap slide job etc. etc. Usac is great, but if you get a chance go see a BOSS show as well , they also put on a good show. I wish lernerville would get a Eastern Storm date as well, the track is the perfect size for the non wingers.

I like to watch mods on 8" tires. Seems to be constant action and the racing is really close because there are on average between 200 and 250 restarts in every race.
After that, its winged for me.

over the last fifve years or so I have grown to really like the wingless, USAC or any other division, plenty of action no doubt...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Aha, true hardcore. I noticed on IOW that some guys refuse to even say "wingless"... it has to be "traditional"

To wit: "Wings disgust me. That however doesn't mean wings are a crutch or that winged drivers are less talented as a whole. winged drivers however dont race true traditional sprintcars, they race more of a modified sprinter, known in this household as winged trash or worse when not trying to water it down for the masses."
"DIsgust"???!!!
