Kyle Offill races to a career best Silver Dollar Speedway finish on Friday night

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – June 11, 2018…Tracy, California’s Kyle Offill continued his second season of Sprint Car racing this past weekend and highlighted the double header outing with a personal best finish at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday.

The Silver Dollar bullring made the switch to Winged 360 Sprint Cars this season and has seen some the largest weekly car counts in the state. This past Friday featured a field of 24-entrants and Offill began the night by timing in 12th overall. He proceeded to then win his heat race and pull the number eight pill during the A-main re-draw.

The recent High School graduate was making his first start of the season at the quarter-mile and moved forward when the green flag waved. Numerous caution periods plagued the contest early on, but the 17-year-old remained composed through it all. He soon found himself battling with multi-time Chico track champion Sean Becker for the second spot. One slight miscue on the cushion in turn three however, caused him to fall over the edge of the surface and lose spots.

Offill gathered himself and drove on to claim a career best Silver Dollar Speedway finish of seventh at the checkered flag.

The following night Team KO Racing headed for the El Dorado County Fairgrounds located Placerville Speedway, where Offill qualified sixth fastest and ran third in his heat race. After starting ninth in the feature Offill got a piece of an incident in turn two, which left him with top wing damage. He was hanging tough in the seventh position when a flat tire forced him to the work area on lap-seven. He returned and ultimately finished the race in 11th.

“It felt really good to put together a solid night at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday,” Offill commented. “To win a heat race and battle up front in the main event at a track with so much history was great for our whole team. At Placerville on Saturday we had a good night going and the flat tire set us back. All in all though it was a successful weekend and we’re looking forward to Watsonville and Hanford this Friday and Saturday.”

Retired Australian Sprint Car driver Trevor Green has also been working as crew chief for Offill over the last few weeks. “It’s been fun having Trevor as a part of the 2K team,” said Offill. “We’ve been working well together and have definitely started to gel in the short time we’ve been a combination. Ocean Speedway in Watsonville is a track that has been one of my favorites early on in my career, so I can’t wait to see what we can do together on Friday.”

Kyle Offill Racing would like to thank Country Builders Construction, Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, Bacchetti Hay Service, Offill Family Farms, Octane Ink, HRP and T-Mac Motorsports for their support this season.
