Not sure what everyone else thinks but I find it very annoying at the start and restarts of races they keep going to the speed shot and in many cases you miss guys making moves on a start. I am thouroughly enjoying watching the coverage and definetly worth the money. Just an observation.

I agree. I absolutely love my fast pass. The broadcasts have gotten better every single week as they've added scoring tickers and multiple cameras/views. But it seems the camera is never focusing on the right battles during restarts. Just show the top 4 going through turns 1 and 2. If you miss a wreck in the back of the field... oh well. If another camera gets a replay of it then great. I'd rather see the battle for the lead.

Last night was tough because they had to position the camera near the first turn and it was a tough angle. They seem to follow what Gibby is calling for the most part, it’s not perfect but I seem to remember that live racing on TNN and Speed also got similar comments that they weren’t covering the right action. It’s still a terrific bargain for all the racing you get, not just outlaws but some great support classes every once in a while.

Absolutely and I've brought it up on here before. The speed shots are awful, especially early in the night, where you can't see crap.
If it's a matter of using them that often to justify the time they take to set up, then just don't set them up.
And if you absolutely have to do it, FFS, quit doing it on the starts/restarts. There is just too much action going on to cut down to where you can't see anything.

It is very, very hard to televise a sport like Sprint car racing because there is action all over the track and a finite amount of camera lens angle, space, etc. I hear what everyone is saying and you have good points, just wanted to point out from a production standpoint how challenging it is to actually film this sport. it's always going to be a challenge. Even when you are actually at a race live and in person you can only focus on one general area of the action. How many times have you been at a race and watching a battle then hear some oohs and ahhhs and turn and see the end of a wreck or some other action that you missed.

I have never done video but have taken plenty with a digital SLR and flash. Based on my time behind a lens I'd liken it to shooting into a hornets nest and trying to catch one specific hornet. It's amazing they can do as well as they do.
Spectating I was always one of those people looking in the wrong direction. Shooting photos my head was on a swivel. I'm a Navy catapult crew vet so I already knew how fast things can get crazy with fast machines before I ever took a racing pic. In spite of my awareness sometimes I found out there was a crash by hearing that first hit and not seeing it right away.
It's amazing that they get any footage correct as fast as things happen. Guys like Mark Meeks of Meeks video who shoots in my area amaze me.
