Nick Faas, who won the Western Focus midget title in 2007, is moving up in 08 to run the USAC/CRA sprint car series.

Good news. I will look forward to seeing this young driver in action. Which team? Did his father or a relative drive with SCRA in year's past?

His family has been involved with midgets, sprint cars, and WoO for many decades.

Trpcrwn- Nic's uncle is Cary Faas who is the driver you likely remember. His grandfather is Leonard who owned sprint cars.

Cary drove sprints and midgets
Lenny raced speedway bikes
Leonard owned sprints and the King-o-Lawn midget

Yes this is great news for those who have been worrying about car counts. It seems wingless sprints on dirt are getting more and more popular. Along with that, dirt modified cars are growing. Norm Bogan gave me the first edition of a new magazine he will be writing for called Dirt Modified. It is published by another publication he writes for called Flat Out, probably the best magazine covering sprinits. I feel this is the golden era of sprint car racing. I listen to old-timers talk about Ascot and the legendary drivers of that era, but in the future we will be talking aboutThe Pas and drivers like Ricki Gaunt, Tony Jones, The Ripper, The Demon, Cardey, Kirby, Spencer, Cory Kruseman and Nadine Gardner nee Keller. Also we will reminise about Naylor's seaside racing emporium with heroes like Rutherford, Wakim, Taylor, Kierce and my particular hero Bruce Douglass. That's Douglass with two ss's which he persists in spelling it.

I forgot to mention this fan site that gives nuts like me the opportunity to communicate with other sprint car wackos. Thanks Lance!

Thanks to all of you for answering my questions though I am still not sure who young Nick will be driving for, is it a family deal. I certainly know or have heard of the famous King-o-Lawn sprinters and midgets as well as Nick's uncle Cary Faas. Almost forgot - congratulations to Nick for his championship season. Thanks to all of you again. Davemahar you seem to have quite a bit of knowledge when it comes to Socal racing and I look forward to reading your posts.

Tripcrwn,
To answer your question of who he will be driving for,I had read somewhere ( I think Wagtimes) that his father Jerry had purchased a car and support equipment from someone that was getting out of racing, so it will be a family owned deal.

Thanks CRA91. Again I am looking forward to seeing young Nick in the 410s. This type of informational post is what this web site needs. Information about car owners and drivers is what I look forward to here. Thanks again.
