David Gravel coming in from Charlotte, Schatz bringing the late model, and I'd have to guess either Marks or the Shark cars will be there as well. It should be a welcome respite from this shitty weather we had last week. The cooler will be full as it looks like it is shaping up to a be a good one at Port on this Memorial Day weekend. Giddyup!

Steve Oneil said on Winged Nation that there wold be several surprises I am sure that is some of them but it wouldnt be a surprise if more Outlaws come up from Charolett if the weather is nice.
Oneil also said on another radio show that next years Weikert will be even bigger wonder whats up?

Awesome! I still liked it better when it was all-star sanctioned and paid 15G to win. A 10G to win unsanctioned show just doesn't feel like a $30 show to me.

I agree $30 is alot for a nonsanctioned race even if the late models are running for $5000 I will go to the Grove on Friday and decide on Saturday if Dewease runs away with everything Friday and Saturday I may just stay home Sunday.
Which I predict he will since I am not really a late model fan even the double sprint show at the Grove was only $25.

$25 for Friday and $30 for Saturday... yeesh.. Ill still be there, but, (voice trails off) We'll have to see what's in store for the races this year.
Didn't they charge $30 for the Tuscarora last year?

I can't make it Saturday but count me in for the big show, sorry to see Penny pinching ($5) is all it takes for some of you to bail out on a big night at the track.

Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD

Mother Nature is on a roll this year weekend forcast just added showers for most of the day Saturday.
Makes it hard for drivers and fans to plan for a weekend until the last minute.
Wonder if any of the Lincoln cars will run Saturday with points system being used you almost have to run both nights.

Pretty sure that Saturday night has nothing to do with Sunday. Both nights are using Time Trials and Passing points.

Last season Port Royal hit a HOME RUN weather wise on every one of their big shows.....this season not so much. The weather does not look favorable for both nights this weekend.

Bobby Davis Jr. coming to visit Port Royal now too! Remember his running the #29 very well in 1983.

Rumblings on twitter give rumors of a possible Jason Johnson appearance too.

Some people have no choice but to pinch pennies and the vast majority of those people are the type of people who work a real job for a living. A lot of families who live on a 9-5 income, have a mortgage to pay and have mouths to feed besides their own don't have any choice. If you have a family of 4 with one kid who's between these ages of 12 and 17, it will cost them $80 just to walk through the gate. For you it may "only" be $5 but when it comes to families, that becomes a lot of money once you start multiplying it. For some people, that's a lot of money just to spend on an evening at the races. Don't get me wrong, it's shaping up to be a great weekend and I'm looking forward to it but no way in hell is it a $30 show. Port has a history of outrageous admission prices so I'm not surprised. It's a shame because it's races like these that often times, casual fans and even new fans are more likely to attend but with prices like that, people who aren't diehards are less likely to go and they'll opt for some more affordable entertainment. It's pretty ignorant to take a cheap shot at people who don't have a ton of money to waste on a race. I'm sure they'll still get a great crowd but I know a few people who are pretty die hard race fans who were gonna go until they saw the admission prices.

Agreed. I wish it were still that way. I'm with you 100%. I'm still going to be there but I personally feel like this isn't a good race to tack a big paying late model show to.

Yeah...and I love LM's but their feature is kind of anti-climatic after a big sprint race. Half the crowd is headed for the gate as soon as the checkers fall on the sprints, which is usally pretty late at the speed palace. I'll still go on Sunday as long as the weather holds out.

Once again agreed. I can't say I love late models because I don't. I can take them or leave them and if they're with the sprint cars, I'll usually stay around and watch if I'm feeling like it and it isn't too late which like you said, at Port, it usually is late. I think it would be just as pointless to run sprint cars with their Lucas Oil Series show. All it would accomplish is driving the admission prices up for the late model fans who are there to see the late models. A few of my sprint car oriented friends have opted not to go because they could care less about the late models so that $30 admission price isn't worth it to them. I just think if they're going to have a big sprint car race, have a big sprint car race and the same applies to the late models. What they're doing is the equivalent of having Olympic style wrestling during WWE Monday Night Raw and charging more money for it.

LOL!!!! Whiners. I'll be there both nights enjoying the sprints and the LM so cry all you want, lol. Besides, over the past few years, the Late Models put on a better show than the sprints do. So stay away and cry if you want, who cares. There will be plenty of us there to enjoy the show. Come on mother nature, be nice to us this weekend, please.

I didn't really see anyone whining or crying. I saw a few people sharing their opinion of late model racing and how it factors into this weekend.
I too, like the late models. I too, will be there both nights. It doesn't make me any better or worse than anyone else.
Settle down.... Enjoy the races.
