"RACIN' GRAYSON" ALL SET for SPRINT CAR BANDITS SERIES RETURN on MAY 12th!

Bells, TX (05/03/18) by DarinShort.com. The newly renovated Grayson County Speedway (GCS) near Bells, Texas (approximately 35 miles NE of McKinney) is a racy ¼ mile bullring, as evidenced by the exciting Sprint Car Bandits series event held there last September.

30-second 2017 SCB rewind: Michael Day would chip away at the feature lead held by Zane Lawrence, and the two would race side-by-side within the tight confines of GCS, with Day squeaking by for the well-deserved feature win that left the GCS fans cheering throughout the victory lane celebration.

Race fans and teams can look forward to reliving last year’s excitement on Saturday, May 12th, when the winged 360 C.I. sprint cars of the Sprint Car Bandits return to GCS. As was the case in 2017, make sure to get there in time to grab the seat you want...as they will be going fast on race night. The first green flag is set to wave at 8pm.

Grayson County Speedway is located at 171 Busby Lane Bells, Texas 75414. Click www.GCSracing.com for complete track details. You can also email [email protected] or call (903) 892-3157 if you need additional information. Visit www.facebook.com/graysoncountyspeedway for the very latest in track updates, pictures and much more.

Gates open at 5pm on race day, Saturday May 12th, with racing at 8pm. Grayson County Speedway divisions will round out the full night of racing; including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, I-Stock, Factory and Economy classes. The SCB are slated to run 2nd or 3rd division out, as in 2017.

Standard SCB posted rules and purse structure are in effect. No entry fee or series membership fee; $15 draw-in fee. Sprint car teams not familiar with SCB series rules or structures should go to www.SprintCarBandits.com prior to arrival for complete rules and procedures information.

Note all sprint car teams that sign in will draw for heat race starting positions, regardless of their engine C.I. displacement (360 or under) and will receive passing points to determine their straight-up from points feature race starting position. All SCB legal teams will compete for the same posted purse regardless of C.I. displacement (360 or under).

The SCB series has a unique rules package that allows teams to use their current equipment (especially in the engine compartment) yet curbing nightly tire expense...which helps equalize the competition, with teams of varying budget sizes. That rules package certainly has the vote of many of the drivers in the region, as 70 competed with the series in 2017!

We also highly encourage drivers that have yet to compete in our series to visit with any of the teams that have. It takes just minutes to make a typical winged sprint car SCB rules compliant.

We would like to thank the sponsors of the Sprint Car Bandits series: Rodd Hanna's Air Performance, A&M Glass Service, Palm Harbor Homes, Kustom Craft Exhibits, Gen-Tech at FixYourGenerator.com, Mow Time in Farmersville, RockAuto.com, Pro-Tech Service Co., Scott Baylor Racing Engines, American Elevator Technologies, South Dallas Battery & Electric Co., Gary Floyd Homes, Utility Trailer of Dallas, Inc., DFW Urethane, Valvoline Express Care of Seagoville and the SCB points fund is sponsored by Smiley’s Racing Products & Hoosier Tire Southwest.

If your business is interested in getting involved with the SCB series, please contact Mary Lang directly at: [email protected] or by calling 469-474-8234. There are effective programs available for all sizes of budgets.

411 - this track is just 19 miles south of the Texas/Oklahoma border (where Hwy 75 and Hwy 69 split). It's also just 35 miles NE of McKinney TX; so it's pretty centrally located to a lot of areas that have sprint fans and teams, and it gets a good mix of drivers.

And it's 153 miles straight west of Texarkana on Hwy 82.

Last year's event was super exciting with drivers having to be elbows up all night on the fast and tight confines of the newly renovated Grayson County Speedway.

Those of you that may have been there in the 'old days' won't even know you're at the same place - on multiple levels.

I was shocked at the complete transformation of the facility and the Sprint Car Bandits races were really entertaining and well suited, featuring a very surprising amount of passing - even when the track was fast early in the event. The top 3 qualifiers started 8th, 6th and 4th respectively in their heats.

Bottom line, this will be a fun night of sprint car racing if you're in the area, and the new management keeps the show moving along great. The sprint feature last year was done well before 11pm - and that included a 20-minute red flag period early on in the night.

Smile

And here are a few pics I snapped at the 2017 GCS SCB event, which clearly show how nice the renovated facility is, and how well supported it was by the fan base that is typically used to a stock car oriented program:

Lots of Texas dirt track fans have seen Brandon Hightower race Winged Modifieds and Late Models (especially at LoneStar Speedway), but this coming Saturday you can see him racing in the Sprint Car Bandits series event at the racy 1/4 mile bullring of Grayson County Speedway (35 minutes NE of McKinney).

Brandon has also competed in Xfinity events and the NASCAR truck series dirt event at Eldora Speedway...amongst other types of racing.

He's a super personable 20-year old, so make sure to stop by this pit area to say hello this Saturday night!

From everyone at the Sprint Car Bandits we'd like to wish Brandon and all of the teams the best of luck this Saturday night at GCS!
