Mobile International Speedway hosted sprint cars last night (Mar 31) as part of the regular Saturday show along with ther local late models and support classes. It was opening night for the track which sat idle last year and has a new owner. They intend to run the sprint cars once a month which will help fill the void created by the Southern Outlaw Sprints (ASCS) which have shut down and are for sale. A large crowd welcomed the open-wheelers back to the big asphalt half-mile which opened in 1964 with weekly super modified racing. Several groups have competed here over the last few years but this is an attempt to provide area racers with a welcoming venue for the 360s in the area. Only 6 cars competed but with it being a holiday weekend with lots of family activities, it appears that the experiment may work. Todd Fayard won from his last place starting position. Cody Karl and Timmy Thrash followed in their dirt cars.
