For a sport with such heritage...my first thought is how YOUNG the WoO tour actually is. I'm 37 and I think I've seen in person all but 2 or 3 of the names on the list.
Just a thought.

What you are saying is correct, for sure. I have competed against everyone on the list and I am 39.

And it's not like I live in Knoxville. I'm in WI. Don't travel more than 2 hours to see a race. I moved away for about 10 years for school and work and didn't follow anything at all* before returning home and starting to follow it again.
*i stopped following and would screw up "Dollansky" and "Lasoski" and would get so confused with all the "S" names...Shane Stewart Stevie Smith Sammy Swindell Steve (kinser) etc...
Can't get enough of it once again! Great to see guys like McMahan still getting rides. A guy with that kind of talent should be in a car weekly. Cmon people...become Sprint Car Team Owners!

And...my son owns 10 1/64th's models of the people on the list! He also owns multiple Schatz cars.

I lucked out when I was young and we raced a lot in the early-mid 90’s, all over the country. I got to know many of these guys when I was only 16 or so.

Not picking a fight or anything, but hwere is Sheldon Haudenschild on that list? Am I blind?
The revised list now includes the first (only?) woman to win a WoO race- Erin Crocker.

Got it. Thanks. At least I know my eyes aren't going bad even if the rest is wearing out.

Just a guy from Ohio. I did not do much with racing for a while, but I am working my way back into it now.

Good move, now it makes it real when/if Schatz passes Sammy for 2nd.
Im a little surprised the King only has 113 prelim wins, but that just shows you when the money was on the line, Steve and Karl won most of the time.

What they didn't tell you! Looks like some drivers got dis-credited as well. Example: Wayne Sue used to have 1 WoO win credited to him. Now I see none. The win came at a preliminary night of the Gold Cup in Chico. Sept. 25, 1980. Was it a 'full field'? Let's see. 56 cars qualified that night, including Lealand McSpadden, Jac Haudenschild, Shane Carson, Jack Hewitt, Sammy Swindell, Jeff Swindell, Tim Green, Jimmy Boyd, Doug Wolfgang, Johnny Anderson, Rick Ferkel, and Steve Kinser. They all raced the following nights. Wayne beat them all the first night. The race paid $2000 to win. It was a WoO sanctioned event. Wasn't that the criteria at the time? I don't know if the main was points paying or if they all got the same points for entering, but it would be a shame if credit were not given for a win.
Jonathan Allard also won a prelim night in 2007. No credit given. That night it was a split field, but I have heard that there were WoO events at both ends of the country in 1978 '79 or '80 on the same weekends making it impossible to race at both, and all were counted as WoO races. Wouldn'g those be considered 'split fields'? Did the winners of those split fields get credit for a win?
Johnny?

According to my records, none of the drivers in the 9-25-80 A-main raced the next night (9-26). Therefore it's considered a "split field". Only in 1978 were there multiple WoO races on the same date (because in 1978, ANY race that paid $2000 or more was given WoO points). So in those cases BOTH were given credit for official wins, since both races met the criteria of WoO full point races in that year.

Was Nick Rescino's win in a super modified in 78 or 79 at West Capital Speedway a split field?

Rescino's win was NOT a split field. It's being added to the list.
