I am trying not to be worried, so that is why I am posting, because I don't have inside info or as many historical statistics as some do.

I know that Saturday was a daytime race, after lots of wind (and in some wind) but with only 20 cars showing for the Icebreaker @ Lincoln, how worried are we for PA car counts in the 410's this year.  I know a couple of those that were there will either be at Port or only part time as well.  Do we have a ballpark as to what the overall car counts in PA might be this year? Are there a number of guys who are waiting for better conditions to bring out their cars?  It seems like lots of teams have been forgoing local racing to go on the Series the last few years.  WoO has it's strongest group in years and All-Stars are going to have an impressive number following this year (also stronger in competition than last year).

I know these things are cyclical, but I'm wondering how down a year this might end up being at the local PA tracks in terms of numbers?

Itll be fine. Joe Kata, Brad Howard, Adrin Shaffer, Matt Campbell were all not there along with others. Plus guys like Ott, Lehman, Wagner, Cisney, Zearfoss and the port royal guys have yet to be out yet. Nothing too concerning. Will be enough for each saturday night track to have a solid field every week. 

Jay Galloway, Tyler Ross, Robbie Kendall, Tim Wagaman, Dwayne Gutshall, Randy Baughman, Coleman Gulick, Trey Starks, Austin Hogue, are just some of the drivers who are likely going to be at Lincoln either full time, or part time that were not mentioned above. 

For Port, Hammaker, Jared Esh, Stutts, Mike Wagner, Heimbach, Lafferty, Stroup, Lehman, Hershey, Flick, Trenton Sheaffer, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Smith, Tyler Bear and others.

WG: Mark Smith, Nicole Bower, Buckwalter, Givler, Ryan Higgins, and others.

Add in the Streakers, and some of the other teams that don't seem to follow any specific schedule and I'm sure we will be fine. Counts might be a little worse than last season with Dietrich, and Zearfoss on the road more often and guys like Fraker and Billy Dietrich no longer racing. However, the 58 car that Zearfoss ran only at the Grove last year will be adding a night to their schedule weekly, and the Slothtower team will be running with Mark Smith at the Grove as well. Hammaker, and Schaeffer (Spelling?) moving up to 410s as well as probably some others im unaware of.

I'm more concerned about the 358 class at Lincoln, seems they have lost a lot of cars between guys moving up to 410s, and guys running the USAC Wingless series. That is a great division and hope to see some new guys running with them.

Who would that be? Are you talking about National  410 series?

No I'm talking about the new USAC East Coast 360 Series. Here is a list of a few that I know of planning to run with them at least part time:

Steven Drevicki, Chandler Leiby, Steve Wilbur, Trey Hivner, Ryan Quackenbush, and Chase Dietz. These are all guys that had at least a few starts in the 358 class at Lincoln last season, aside from Chase Dietz who had several starts between 410s and 358s. In some cases these are guys who ran weekly or almost weekly at Lincoln.

Hope it doesn't detract from Lincoln's counts too much, tho....

Just checked the schedule.... looks like they're teaming up with Wingless Super Sportsmen at Path Valley.... could be good!

season starts way to early

Drevicki and Hivner will still be doing 358 racing best of my knowlege. Leiby will be doing only USAC EC races and some URC stuff, Dietz running the same kind of schedule hitting higher paying 358 and 360 winged shows along with the USAC deal. Not sure on the others though. 

How do you get weekly Lincoln resutls? They're never on the website.

They will be on SprintCarUnlimited.com every Saturday night, and they are free.

On the subject of wingless racing, it's still dicey in central Pennsylvania. I'm not sure why some organizers continue to try and make it stick on a weekly basis in the region.

I like wingless racing. The Eastern Storm is a good series, and I even travel to Eldora for the Let's Race Too. Those guys are the best and are a pleasure to watch. But even the USAC trip into PA isn't always successful. Lincoln doesn't have them this year ... it hasn't caught on there ... and it's why the Grove and Port Royal have the 410s on the slate. It helps pad the gate.

In my mind, there are too many divisions in this region, and it divides up a possible car count. We talk about it on the podcast a couple of times through the year. There was no need to go out and start another series.

As for car counts, we talk about it at the start every season, and it somehow works out. But, there is a concern on the chasing points and weekly programs. Trey Starks and guys like that aren't showing up at Port or Lincoln for a weekly show. We just had Robbie Kendall on the podcast two days ago, and he isn't running Lincoln regular. Alan Krimes has indicated he will move around a little bit. Other than Williams Grove, I think the days of a strong field chasing points is over. Special shows will do better car count wise than weekly shows.

I feel that Lincoln will have a tough year with car counts.Prob about 18-20 weekly 410's is what I am thinking, around 25-358's.  I think one of the biggest things to hurt car counts and the Central Pa tracks is the ASCOC series

The weekly tracks have lost many cars to the series over the last 2 years.  With the travel money the way it is, guys can  make more money just to show up t then if they finished 10 th at their home tracks.Its easy to haul to Ohio and have a chance to win $5000 each night over the weekend.

In the past couple years it has become a very good alternative between the weekly tracks and the WOO. I was involved with modifieds up until 7 yrs. ago. and this seems like what happened to the weekly mod tracks starting in the 70's. Guys stopped the local tracks to try to win bigger money more often. This year alot of mod guys are skipping weekly Dirt points to chace the money shows.

25 cars at Lincoln today.... they will be fine.... 25 to 30 weekly in the 410s.. 358s... be lucky to get 24 weekly... 

I just came from there, they are NOT free. I couldn't tell how much, but I am on Disablity and dead ass broke.

Is there anyplace else I can try?
