WORLD OF OUTLAWS OPEN PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY’S 23RD SEASON ON SATURDAY!
(Perris, CA, February 27, 2018) When the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series makes its only Southern California appearance of 2018 at the “SoCal Showdown” at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, March 3rd, it will mark the opening of the 23rd consecutive season of racing at the famous Riverside County dirt oval. In addition to the World of Outlaws, the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and The PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints will also be in action. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 P.M. and the first race will take the green flag at 7:00.
“It is going to be one heck of a 23rd season opener,” Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian said with a smile on Monday. “It is so hard to believe that this is the 23rd season as it has all gone by so fast. We have crammed a lot of racing into the first 22-years and it is only appropriate that we kick off this season by combining two of our most popular shows. The world’s fastest dirt track sprint cars, the World of Outlaws, and the resident USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. They are two totally different disciplines of sprint car racing and each group will supply some fabulous racing action for the fans. They will get to see some of the greatest drivers from each group all in one night.”
Both groups will be chomping at the bit by the time Saturday’s race rolls around. The race will be the kickoff of the 15th season for USAC/CRA and the first race for the club since last November’s Budweiser Oval Nationals presented by All Coast Construction. For the Outlaws, who opened their season a couple of weeks ago in Florida, but who lost both of last weekend’s races in Texas, it will mark their first California appearance of the 2018 campaign.
Saturday will be the World of Outlaws 19th appearance at The PAS. Last year a field of 26-Outlaw cars showed up and Watertown, Connecticut’s David Gravel became the 10th different Outlaw winner at the track when he bested the field. On Saturday, he will try to become only the fifth different Outlaws winner at The PAS. Indiana’s Mark Kinser is the tracks all-time leading Outlaws winner with five victories (he won the first five Outlaw main events at the track from November 1st, 1996 through October 31st, 1998). Other multiple winners at the track are Oklahoma’s Daryn Pittman, who has three wins, and Indiana’s Joey Saldana and Danny Lasoski of Missouri who have two victories each. Lasoski holds the all-time track record with a sizzling lap of 13.825 set in 2002.

Fans who purchase reserved seats in advance for March 3rd will receive a free “World of Outlaws Fan Pit Pass.” The pit pass will allow fans access to the World of Outlaws pit area located outside of turn one throughout the night of action. Fans will be able to see the cars up close, watch the crews at work, meet the drivers, obtain autographs, take photos and purchase merchandise directly from the teams.
“The World of Outlaws Fan Pit Pass puts the fans in the heat of the action,” Kazarian said. “They can see the cars on the track and then watch the teams make necessary adjustments seconds later when they return to the pits. The pass also allows fans to interact with their favorite World of Outlaws drivers. There is nothing like it in the NBA, NHL, NFL or Major League Baseball.”
