Looking at getting my first non-wing sprint car and these brands stick out to me the most. What are your opinions and/or experiences? Good or bad. Please don't offer me a deal on a car in this thread, I'd rather limit it to info on these chassis makes or the one you like the best. Lastly 5-bar or no? Why?
Thanks.

And that has made all the difference.

Get the one you can get the best deal on the one with a dealer that's familiar with the tracks you plan to run so they can help with set ups. If you have no racing experience you won't be able to tell the difference from one brand to the other.... unless your name is Larson or bell

LOL. Motorhead pretty much hit it. Unless you have a great deal of experience running non wing or a crew chief that has. Talk to guys that will give you good feedback.

And I'll add...... buy a complete car or as close as you can get from someone who runs where you plan to run. And if you have zero racing experience take a season and work with someone who already runs. You will be far ahead both knowledge & $$$.

If you asked this on the Indianaopenwheel.com forum you'd likely get more responses. It's mostly non wing over there.

There isn't another sprintcar in my whole state... I'm hoping to start a club of sorts and grow into a class, maybe even a series eventually. I burned out on DLM after 30 years, so I'm gonna try getting a sportsman style sprint class going here, but not a crate only class, nope.

Understand..... you could come north and still buy a used car/roller. Come to Indy this weekend for a show/swap at the fairgrounds.

If you're basically starting with a fresh series then I wouldn't get too wrapped up with the brand of chassis so much. I would look into whether I would want to run with a wing or wingless. Additionally figure out motor class you would be looking at. Personally if you are considering winged cars I would look into into the racesaver 305s particularly if you're gonna run 1/4 - 3/8 mile track. There might be a similar class for nonwing cars, but if so I'm unaware.
You want to attract fellow racers ultimately and that division isn't too bad compared to 360s or 410s.

It will be NON-wing or I won't bother, its that simple. My question in regards to chassis is an attempt to learn tendencies and customer satisfaction. I've been in DLM for 30 years and I know who I WILL and who I WON'T deal with and WHY. Which cars have which attributes and so forth and i was trying to learn the in's and out's of sprint chassis trends. Next month I'm making the trek to Florida for the USAC races at Bubba, this will be my first non-wing race in person. After that if I leave Florida with my passion in tact and not scared out of my mind(I'm 47), I plan to go to Cory Krusman's school after that. The racesaver 305's are cool, but not really making any impact, even in a traveling winged series in my region. This past year I tried to check out a winged RS305 series, but only like 5 cars showed up and I think all those guys knew as much as I do about sprints. The ASCS comes thru a couple times a season and thats about as much direct contact I have with ANY sprints. I even considered maybe basing the engine on the ASCS rules with maybe a 2 barrel carb, at least there would be a market to buy/sell in. Really the best rules package I've seen are the UMSS Traditional sprints in Wisconsin/Minnesota, about 450HP 2 Barrel carb and not exclusively 1 engine for all. I'm keen on the carb rule because no one around here knows anything about Mechanical Injection and it makes trying sprints less daunting for newbies. I hate crate only classes. Thanks for your input.
