Does anyone build a DOCUL tubing sprint car? Is it an option with any prominent builders, like Maxim or DRC or Eagle?

And that has made all the difference.

It is an option at J&J Chassis it adds quite a bit to the cost of the frame I know Donny Schatz has a few and I think Trey Starks as well

I think I just read an article that Ryan Linder is building some X-1 Chassis using Docul...I'll see if I can find the article (if I'm right).

Late model builder Rocket Chassis out of West Virginia has been building their XR-1 chassis out of this Docul tubing for a few years now. The Rocket house car that was driven by Josh Richards in 2016 and in 2017 by Brandon Shepherd to date has 50 wins and 2 WoO LM championships out of 140 starts on the original chassis. Getting that many races out of one chassis at that level of competition is unheard of and speaks for the quality and strength of the Docul tubing.

Thats cool. I couldn't get X-1 Race cars website to work, but FB did. Think I cam across a video where ART is using DOCUL R8 in their cars too.

Interesting. My only question to this is, if it's stronger and guys race them longer. What's this do to the chassis manufacture ? He won't be building as many cars because the demand is going to lesson. Or is this the reason a new xr-1 is so much more than others ?

Wait, I was led to believe that the main reason, the only reason really, as to why those cars won so much was the Ford powerplant.

This material is similar strength but deforms better insted of snapping or breaking off like chromoly tends too. Yes if a car manages not to get crashed it should last longer, but I think the uptick in safety and is less labor intensive prep during build, that the builders won't be effected much except in higher cost of material. Cars still have to be fixed and if the driver is more likely to survive or not be severly injured he can return to buy another car...

Most organizations list only chomoly to be used in constuction of cars. Even quarter midgets list chomeoly only on frames. They would have to change rules. Are you sure they are building sprint cars with this?

Docol has higher ductility than chromemlly, yet the same strength and durability.
Made by SSAB, see here:

Yes, X1, J&J and ART offer Docul R8 chassis. I realize USAC specifies Chromoly at present, but the whole world isn't USAC.

I checked out the WoO, All Star, and all 3 USAC National series rule books. None of them state the word "chromemoly" in the rules. They all mention the ASTM 4130 spec, so as long as the Docul tubing meets that spec it's legal.
I've never heard of this tubing before. Interesting to hear about it.
Signature here.

I stand corrected, but the other (2) do. Thanks for update.
