Murphy always starts some good, fun, debate threads. So, I thought I would start one. Sprint car season is pretty much over, so let's fill some time with a little "what if?" debate. (and this is all for fun to fill time between now and the Chili Bowl)
What if: Donny pissed off Tony in the off season and got fired. Logan Schuchart is hired for the 15 car and Donny lands in the Destiny #4. Warner stays with the 15.
1. How many wins does Donny get?
2. How many wins does Logan get?
3. Do we just hand David the trophy in Florida in February?

Now this oughta be fun, but here goes.
1. Depends on who Donny's crew chief is in the #4
2. Probably at least 10, maybe more
3. Absolutely not! I would point out that Brad Sweet was actually 2nd in points, not Gravel.

1. Maybe a couple provided he uses same chassis and equipment and knows how they had his car set up which I'm sure he does.
2. Some where between 8 and 15. Racing is 80% car and Logan is good enough he would be winning races on that team. He also drives like Donny drives straight and is good through the slick.
3. Gravel is peaked out and will level off never gets more wins than he did this year. Will never become consistent. If K Madsen runs woo with same crew chief and keeps rolling like he has been this year, title goes to him or brad sweet.

Donny becomes upset and flattens the tires on the team 15 hauler. 10 wins at best.
Ricky Warner has to have 5 complete cars in the trailer. Logan has new resume. Fast or Crash. Top 3 in points.
NOBODY, gets the title just handed to them. Gravel can't finish races. Crew chief leaves goes to the stenhouse 17, Donnie comes over to drive a ford. Dominates month of money with a knoxville win.

While we're doing just for fun.....the format is changed,no TT's,drivers draw for heat starts & line up dash/feature on passing points. The same guys aren't starting in the top 8 almost every night & we get to see the top guys racing from mid-pack sometimes. No regular Outlaw has more than 10 wins, Cali, Midwest, OH & PA beat them on a more regular basis & Schatz still wins the title

Interesting premise. Thoughts in no particular order:
*After losing the ride, Donny has his head examined. *Donny quickly finds a good crew chief and a big time sponsor and is a contender for the win every night.
*Logan's wins go double digit, including a couple of big races *TSR puts Jacob Allen in a team car and hires Bobby Allen as a senior team crew chief. *When they meet, Tony Stewart asks for Bobby Allen's autograph, not the other way around
*After a fairly close point battle, the 2018 WoO champion has an Australian accent. *David Gravel recalls that 2017 was his best season and hopes 2019 is as good.
*Larry the Cable Guy buys Husets Speedway for about $185 cash and races sprint cars on Sunday nights. (Hey- stranger things have happened.)

Sorry, but Larry is a modified fan (sad to say).
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Surely you can't be serious! A couple years back Terry McCarl had Lord, I apologize barbque sauce as a sponsor. Besides, he could always run the modifieds on a Tuesday night or something.

Just going by his preference at Eagle Raceway.
Donald Trump advertised on a sprinter at the Nationals. Think he's a fan?

Donny says the hell with it and goes Late Model racing full time. Logan wins 7 or 8, Gravel has an off year, Sweet starts crashing himself out instead of others, and the Madsen brothers clean up!

Good response
You are not alone on your thoughts on Gravel's season. In my opinion, it's just the start. We'll see who's correct in a year. Will be interested to see if the "Australian accent" prediction comes true.
Larry the Cable Guy would be the second biggest comedy act to own Husets.

Your ALL crazy if you think the 4 car at Destiny would actually win a race with or without Schatz! That car is a POS!!! Yes, lots of guys who run it are glad to be on the tour, as you or I would be too. But, that car is a IRA car at best! Maybe All Stars, but not a WoO contenter.
The Crowd Pleaser IS THE BEST ever!

i bet you'd be surprised just how close the 4 is to the 15 in terms quality of components on the track. Yes the 15 may have more in the trailor/shop. The difference in performance is in the personnel.

@LiveDirtUpdates on Twitter did an interesting comparison between 4 series as a study of the format and the conclusion basically drawn from it was there was a negligible difference in amount of races won from the front row. Here is the data he posted:
WoOSC: Front Row Winner percentage - 51% (40 out of 79)... Avg Starting position: 3.189 (to win feature)
ASCoC: Front Row Winner percentage - 52% (25 out of 48)... Avg Starting position: 3.166 (to win feature)
WoOLM: Front Row Winner percentage - 56% (24 out of 43)... Avg Starting position: 3.069 (to win feature)
LucasOilLM: Front Row Winner Percent - 49% (22 out of 45)... Avg Start position: 4.688 (to win feature)
Bottom line, unless you start someone on the front row who has no business being there (like me), drivers on the front row are going to have an advantage. That's why the heat races and dashes exist in a racing program to allow drivers to compete for those "golden tickets". If someone goes from 8th to 1st in the dash and then wins the feature from the pole you can't really say he didn't earn those positions either, which I think some people (not necessarily you) forget.
