Recently recieved my new SC&M magazine and noticed a significant increase in price.
My question is what justifies the increase ?
I am glad to see a certain author didn't do a recap of the Doug Auld Knoxville Nationals article as has beeen done in the past.
Bring back Santa Fe, and LaSalle .

Gonna do my best to explain even though I am not an Economics professor:
Inflation--this is what makes a gallon of milk go from 55 cents in 1972 to over $3 today. Google "inflation"
Supply and Demand--this would be where when you have something that lots of people want, you increase the price of your product knowing there is enough demand for the product. Creates and equilibrium where the business can maximize its profits. Totally legal and widely used with such companies as: GM, Ford, ............who am I kidding? Every single business on the planet. Likewise, if there is no demand for a product, one option is to decrease the price to increase the quantity of sales..............take Nascar tickets for example. (and soon to be NFL anything)
End of print media--10 years from now, you likely won't have to worry about the cost of a magazine cause it ain't likely to exist. That is probably the reason you are seeing a price increase. The costs of supplying the magazine are likely not covering the costs to supply it since subscriptions for print media is tanking daily. So, if you like the magazine, you should realize this and pay the new price.
The cool thing about all of this? We still live in a free country which means you don't have to pay the significant price increase and they don't have to "justify" it. Oh, and I get to be sarcastic and not get put in prison.

"Sprint Car and Midget Magazine" is a long time, glossy, full color, monthly magazine that normally contains 96 pages and features a number of great columnists, photographs and articles on drivers, owners, mechanics and promoters.

It was a tough decision but I recently dropped it after being a subscriber since the Open Wheel days. Just too many re-caps of races that happened 2 months before. I'd rather read more feature articles and I haven't kept up with the fictional story in some years. It's still a fine magazine but doesn't quite fit what I need anymore.

I did notice the colors are not as bright and glossy as previous issues, along with we now have staples holding it together....To me they raised the price and lowered the quality.... just my obversation....

i will have to agree with you on that note. i had to cancel them five or six years ago due to the covers being ripped to shreds every time i received them in the mail. they explained that it was the automatic sorters at the post office. speed sport news online is the way to go...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Glossy is more expensive. The binding using staples is cheaper.

It is definitely your right to point out the things that you like or dislike. I for one can't wait to get each issue! The magazine satisifies everything to me being a Sprint Car Junkie!!! What other magazine covers the wing and wingless sprints as well as Sprint Car and Midget? Enjoy it while it is still around because as pointed out and I hope they are wrong, the magazines are all headed for extinction. In my opinion, there is no substitute for having the magazine.

Thanks for the explanation about supply and demand. What a concept.
You say you're not an Economics Professor but you may be clairvoyant. Because it ain't likely this magazine will be around long because of tanking subscriptions.
It's also great news I don't have to buy the magazine so maybe I can afford the gas to go to a few free craft shows.
Oh and thank God and our service men and women that this is still a free country and we can all be a little sarcastic.

I couldn't live with out it. Seriously I could, but just love the Racer on Racer and whoever thought of that idea for the magazine hit the nail squarely. Also the Jimmy Wilson saga. Wish it was ten pages long. Read them all in SC &M and now have all the books and have read them too, some twice. All the one or two page editorials are great, except Olsons, quit reading them after seeing for the 37th time how drivers have it so easy today with the power steering. Some like Olson's stuff, I'm not interested in reading "crap". IMHO.

who really needs to read an article explaining what I already saw on FB Live 3 weeks ago?
same thing is happening to this message board with exception of idiot posts by fans who are pissed off with the awesome improvements at Port Royal.

The demise of print media aside Flat Out is a competitor in this niche market so that is a factor as well. I still get that one as I was a frequent contributor at one time. It's a small market and there isn't a lot of wiggle room.

I just received my latest issue of SC&M and the first 4 pages were torn up badly. I remember the days of the ripped up covers but haven't had one in about 2 years. The good news, I called the customer service munber and talked with a very pleasant lady and a new copy is on the way. I hope that I don't get a torn up magazine every month again.
