anyone notice that quietly Jac is gaining speed in the 17 car? Small gains but after taking over from Joey he was getting the Sam results as Joey...time fast the go backwards the rest of the night. Now it seems he is moving it to the front every night and finishing 5-10th consistently. Not so much battling for wins, but seems like this team is now making progress. Just an observation.

Jac is still a bad ass. His results are definitely improving with the 17 team. Hopefully they keep him around for a little while. He can still wheel the hell out of a sprinter.

IMO the results are simular between Joey and Jac and Jac is not the long term solution. Jac is a great racer but he is not the old Jac, face it everyone gets old. Will be interesting to see who ends up in the ride in 2018 and what changes are made on the team. I think Hafertepe and Reutzel are two guys that seem to have the right experience and success currently that would be good to see get a shot. Yes, Hafertepe has been on the Woo trail before but never in a fully funded deal that he didn't have to pay the bills on. Guess time will tell.

IMO I don’t think the 17 will be on tour next year.

Again.....the #17 did well at the local level but that's all it did. What the hell do they or anybody else expect this soon after going full time WoO? The secret to Tony Stewart's success on the WoO tour is pretty damn simple......don't start fresh, just go invest the big bucks in a proven winner. He did it with Lasoski and then again with Schatz. So, for those that aren't in the position to do what Stewart does, either commit to giving it time to succeed or stay at the local level until no one can beat you! Even then, the WoO tour is tough sledding! And, if in your mind the only meaning of success comes by beating the #15 team.......stay the hell home! At least for a few more years.

I tend to think it is Sheldon's ride for next year. The only thing that makes sense at this point

Hopefully Bonzai tags along if this is the case....that will help that car stay fast from start to finish...

I would say after a fast start a zero win season would be a failure for Sheldon.

Sheldons the highest in points (7th) with no wins, in his rookie year.... far from a failure in the eyes of the people who are paying for stickers on the side of the 93

FYI......there have been 35 recipients of the WoO Rookie of the Year Award. Only 9 recipients have recorded a win in their rookie season: Joe Gearte 1, Tim Shaffer 1, Jeff Sheppard 2, Kraig Kinser 1, Chad Kemenah 1, Kerry Madsen 2, Cody Darrah 1, Brad Sweet 1, and Greg Wilson 1.    Of the 35, only 19 have finished in the top 10 in points their rookie year, and of those 19 only 4 were in the top 5......Jeff Swindell 4th, Brad Doty 4th, Joe Gearte 5th and Stevie Smith Jr 5th. Average rookie finish overall comes in at 10.43. so between 10th and 11th place at season's end.  I'd say Sheldon is on pace to have a pretty damn good rookie year.

Wow, really cool statistics blazer! Not to mention Sheldon is running a family owned car too! I remember when the Outlaws rained out down in Arkansas and he came back up and ran the All Star show at Wayne County. Sheldon has improved immensely since last year when he ran the all stars. He was good then, but when he came back you could tell how much his game had stepped up after running in the WoO for only a few months at that point.

You're kidding right? He's had a very good rookie season with the WoO. Running the WoO is absolutely the toughest thing to do in all of sprint car racing. He's put in the show most nights and has been in the mix several times. He could just as easily have a win or 2 if not for some bad breaks. Sheldon is going to be a force to be reckoned with as he gains more experience. I'd say for his first year on the tour with a family owned team, he's doing pretty damn good.

Yep!  Good obervation.  It takes a long time for a team to gel and if the #17 runs the trail next year they would be foolish to do another driver change.  At an All-Star show last year I watched Jac wheel Jamie Miller's #6 from the last row of the B to a top five in the A.  He started in the last row of the B because of a broken drive shaft in hot laps which forced him to miss qualifying.  He looks better now then he ever has.

Agreed. He's been in and out of rides for several years now but when things are right, he still drives it to the front and puts on a spectacular show while doing it. I think he could still be very good if he had a steady deal with money behind it. He can still wheel it and at an age when most guys have long since calmed down, he's still as brave as he's ever been. He'll put his foot to the floor and put the car in places where literally no one else will.
