anyone notice that the right panel on the 69k wing wasn't as high as the other cars. it only looked to be about 2 inches . any thoughts about this.

None really... I'm certain the height of the sideboards has some impact on how the car handles. What impact I'm uncertain, but it's a tool I'm sure they like to use to "dial" the car in. Did a quick look at the WOO rulebook and they are pretty open about how the side boards are mounted really. Most folks obviously assemble the wings similarly because that's what works, but there are little preferences you see here and there.

Moving the right side panel upward will decrease the amount of exposure to the inside of the left panel. Move it down, you increase the exposure. More downforce on the inside of the left wing is directing the force further to the left of the frame. When you're doing circles, this stuff matters. I don't know how much it matters but I bet Davey Brown does.

I brought this up in a thread months ago after 69k got caught with an illegal front tire. The right side panel is damn near flush with the center top wing. As you say, maybe only a couple inches and not enough for it to need supports. It has been like that for years, but I don't recall anyone else running a right side panel that low...

look at the speedshotz sections of hoseheads from the national open, a lot of PA guys are doing it. its not illegal, but it helps the car turn, which helps at places like Williams Grove.

Take a look around... Zearfoss, Campbell, McFadden, Hodnett, Montieth just to name a few have been running that style wing. My sources say the Highlands 3 car was the 1st to try it. Not sure tho

I may not be completely accurate but the supports inside the wing are supposed to be parallel to each other, maybe they had some diagonal supports inside of the wing. Hopefully someone who knows the rules will chime in. I do agree with Starks twitter about checking all of the cars in the pits for this possible rule infraction.

The wings need to be 5x5... Starks wing was narrower at the rear at the wicker bill . I'm told by an inch. Which creates a funnel effect hence more pressure equals more downforce. This is the same wing he was caught using at Port with the All-stars earlier this year.
The big picture is there is no way it was a mistake. All wings nowadays are stamped out then assembled. HRP and Vortex wings are shipped in pieces and you assemble them. It was modified or built like that.
Now let's give the benefit of doubt. They bought it and had no knowledge the previous owner modified it. After having to remove it at the Allstar race they knew it was illegal and then tried to run it again at the outlaw show. It's now cheating.
They took the innocent, we didn't know route...again... He wanted every wing in the pits checked because he got caught...again... The outlaws official told him they had no reason to check everyone. If they knew of a specific team they would check them.
Why was he not DQ'd for the night ? He was able to change it and still race, then after not qualifing the Grove gave him the track provisional for the night ! There were a lot of grove regulars not real happy.
Things that make you go.....hmmm

Alot of emphasis being put on Trey here but he doesn't own that car and probably isn't the crew chief. I don't believe him to be completely responsible for a car with an illegal wing.

At Port Trey gets the benefit of the doubt that maybe the crew chief tried to get it by with out his knowledge. At the grove he is as guilty as the crew chief because he did know after port that wing was illegal.
