No comments on the collapse of Dylans Port Royal championship run.  Really chocked the last 3-4 races.  The time trial races really hurt him.

What was he chocking??? His wheels, lol. I don't think he CHOKED at all. His last five races he was 3rd, 5th, 9th, 27th (Zearfoss was 25th) and the killer in all of it was the 50. He finished 21st I believe and Zearfoss, your champ, finished 3rd. No choking at all, just some bad luck. Do you go to Port at all????? Because if you did you would know it was more crappy luck than anything else. I'm not a Cisney fan, nor a hater and I would have loved him to be the Port champ but I can state the facts. Bad luck, more than anything, is what cost him. Happens all the time in racing.

Yes I go to the Port all of the time.  He had a big point lead going into the last 4-5 races.  Yes I agree with some bad luck but the time trial races really hurt him as he did not time well and started in the back of his heat races.

I'm not a fan of Cisney nor do I dislike him so my take on it is as neutral as it gets. It wasn't that he choked, he just wasn't that good to begin with all year. He was very consistent and he showed some improvement from years past but the fact is, Port doesn't have a lot of great cars that are there every single week. It seems like most of the heavy hitters don't care at all about track titles anymore. His main competition as far as the title is concerned was Doug Esh and his season was cut short due to injury and subsequently losing his ride. The guys winning most of the races at Port this year with the exception of Zearfoss are guys who miss a few races to race for money elsewhere. Lets face it, if Dewease, Hodnett, Wolfe, Blaney, Esh etc. had ran there every week this season, Dylan would have likely finished at best, 5th in points. He's a decent racer who seems to be getting better so he might be in the same category as those guys one day but he just isn't there yet. I know it's been done before but he didn't even win a race at Port all year while the guy who beat him, won several including a stretch through the month of August where he was damn near unbeatable. More times than not, if you want to win a championship, you've got to be able to win. Even if he'd won a single race, he'd have been able to hold on to the championship but he didn't and Zearfoss did.

You have to race against the best to get better. Zearfoss gets that and races multiple places to get better. It is a fulltime job to get better at anything. I am happy it went to Zearfoss. Nothing against Cisney but i view him as a part time racer once a week. Track champions generally race other venues and loik for compitition to get better. For example world of outlaws was in town several days good opportunity to get better experience. 

He is average at best. If he had won the championship it would've been like a participation trophy. I appreciate that he straps in every week but he needs to learn to pass cars and time trial to get to the next level.

Ive never been impressed with Cisney. He never runs good during the big shows. He also never runs any other track but Port  I rank him with the likes of Westhafer, Ott, Kendall and Ross.

Nobody was at the Outlaw Late Model race that went until about 1:30 in the morning? He started towards the back and was blasting by people making some bold moves on, and over the cushion. It was great to watch.

Personally I thought he made strides this year in terms of going forward during some A mains and getting a bit better at qualifying. It's a shame that his season ended the way it did. Brock was driving with a ton of confidence by the end of the year and had the results to back it up.

In addition to what Johnny says here Dylan did venture West to Lernerville where he won a race and raced at PPMS with All Stars where I think he finished 5ish maybe. 

He definitely has improved and as far as Port Royal is concerned, he's usually fast. I personally think he'd benefit from getting to some shows at Lincoln, Susky and Williams Grove some more. He did make a trip out to Lernerville and won but that was on a weekend when the best in the business were in town. Lets face it, with the exception of Flick, Bowser and maybe a couple of others, he far outclasses the weekly competitors at Lernerville. If you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best and that's hard to do when you don't race against them. But that's just my opinion. It's his team and it's their money so it's up to him and it isn't really my business or anyone else's. 

I agree with this comment. Dylan is fast at Port, but if he wants to go beyond a 1 night a week racer he needs to branch out. Lernerville doesnt have the competition that Lincoln has or for that matter Williams Grove. Since Lincoln and Port run Saturdays, make a trip to Lincoln's big shows or run Speedweek's other tracks. I know in wrestling the best wrestlers are the ones who wrestle the mid summer tourneys, same with racing you need to compete with the best to become one of the best.

I could make a case the Cisney / Logan Wagner / Ryan Taylor do a pretty good job of doing the "best" with what they have to work with, but than that is not what this ridiculous thread wants hear.

in perspective with other forms of racing where a driver runs the schedule their owner can afford when they CAN afford the best of everything and are number 1 in Tshirt sales...when did Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s championship run collapse?

He had a good season, just came up short in basically the last race against stout competition. Certainly nothing to hang his head about.
