So now we've come to the place where the driver being excited he won and showing his exuberant nature after being on a 30 lap (or whatever the laps were) adrenaline high is something to complain about?  I guess all the Posse vs WoO, Chevy vs Ford, who does the better track prep, MedStar vs the world, race format, dominance by one driver or another, Husets Speedway and Chuck the Badlands Braggart arguing has ran its course so that we only have this to complain of... drivers may not celebrate anymore. Personally I don't have a preference what they do, my all time favorite was Doug Wolfgang and he was, as you said, a driver who didn't show any emotion, simply acted like this was his job-to win. Of active drivers, I'm a fan of Shatz and Gravel and they do the dance and celebrate a touch. Why can't we just enjoy the greatest form of racing known to man instead of complaining all the time. Heck, I'm having a great day today and my two favorite current drivers on tour have barely made the show in Cali.    

On on a different subject....I thought it pretty funny how, prior to the green flag at the NASCAR race in Richmond last night they did a 4 wide salute to the fans and acted as if they were the first to think of it.....

Apparently you don't pay attention, they completely acknowledged that they got from the WOO paying tribute to their fans, did not at all act like they came up with it.

You’re not the only one !! What is the deal with these guys ?? I mean really, what is the big deal ?!? Their only strapping themselves into one of highest horsepower to weight ratio in all of open wheel racing !! And on top of that their running them on dirt tracks and at times with speeds of over 130 MPH with 23 other cars !! Throw in a  multi lane cowboy up or dry slick track, dicing through lapped traffic while trying to fend off other drivers trying to take the lead from you !! How about them firing off slide job bombs off other cars port bow for the lead !! Or being buried alive in the field, only to fight your way to the front and steal the win !! Can't these guys control the small amount of adrenalin they must get from racing these cars, to the point they don't feel the need to climb onto the wing of their car to shout, fist pump or beat the hell out of their wing with a neanderthal like primal beating of their chest ?!?!

If you can watch one of these races and not feel a rise in blood pressure you must be dead on your feet ….! This is probably one of the most dumbass comments I’ve read here on HoseHeads.

I agree it looks bush league. The only thing worse is a driver doing donuts or climbing the fence.

It's monkey see monkey do just like all the horrible vinyl graphics on most of the cars.

Did I read somewhere that the WoO instructs the driver to climb up because it makes a good photo op?    It was cool at first,  but when it becomes part of the "hat dance" then it turns into ho-hum.  

I agree that it has become cliche and not really anything special anymore.    It's kind of like the burnout in NASCAR  (sprint car or midget donuts are still cool).  If you want to show me that you are excited,  celebreate in some unique way.   Do a back flip,  climb the fence, get the car spinning like a top with the steering wheel hanging out the side,  etc.   

I'll be honest I probably wasn't paying 100% attention, was doing my typical NASCAR watching which is to watch the first few laps, do something else, then time it to watch the last 10-20 laps. In this case it worked out perfect to watch a movie with the wifey in between the start and end. For all we complain about in sprint car racing , I think we take it for granted when one sees the staleness NASCAR has taken on.  I know this is my fault, moving away from all of the sprint car racing in southeastern SD where I grew up, but it was necessary for my wife to pursue her career for which she earned her degree.  Although I love where we live, small town USA where I live very affordable and, as well, can pursue my passion of deer hunting, I so miss the opportunity to watch the winged beasts more than once a year within a reasonable drive. So I'll never take it for granted again...nor complain as much as I used too. 

Depends so much on the motive. If its your way of celebrating who can complain. If you do it cause the last guy did, well get your own celly. Have to remember it is the greatest "show" on dirt. Showmanship sells tickets.  I would agree the celly should be yours to invent and perform.

Yeap!  I Could not agree more.  They look like a bunch of rediculous children!  I can see it maybe if you just won one of the big ones from the back row, but other than that, get out of your car, thank the Lord, thank your crew, thank the sponsors, then shut your mouth, load your racecar and get on to the next show! 

I've got no problem at all with them doing this.   It makes good sense to me that they absolutely should do it.   They climb up high and they are elevated for the entire crowd to see, especially the kids!   They don't just blend into the crowd of people that may be gathering around the car.   This way all the people that want to cheer for them can see them plainly.   

I did get tired of all the burnouts in NASCAR.   I might mention that even many of the NASCAR drivers climb up on their car for a short time in victory lane.   

I personally enjoy the wing dance and this topic got me wondering who came up with the idea of climbing on top of the wing? Wasn't Jeff Swindell one of the early pioneers of this celebration?

Am I the only one that is sick and tired of coming on here hoping to read something intelligent and there is another new thread started with a fan bitching about the newest thing that offends him/her this week. 

And as far as your comment about "missing the days" if you're missing the good old days well time has swallowed you whole.
