I have only seen a few guys drive a sprint car the way Kyle does, but I was there wednesday, only one guy there made sprint car racing look easy that night and he's sitting on the front row with a shot at his 10th Knoxville Nationals.

Well put. I'm a huge Kyle fan. Donny makes everything look robotic and smooth--almost easy as you say. Kyle uses every inch of the track, the cushion, the marbles, the wall, the inside berm, the concrete on the edge of the infield......you get the point. Two TOTALLY different approaches with the same result. Amazing how much time is spent talking about car setup when there are infinite ways to put a car into a corner.

The funniest thing i heard during Larsons PA Speedweek massacre was Dave Moody on Sirius Nascar saying how come everyone gets pissed when Kyle Busch "drops down" to run trucks and xfinity but nobody seems to get mad when Larson "drops down" to run sprint cars...

I'm well aware of Schatz making it look easy but that wasn't always the case. We used to see him pretty often in the WISSOTA 360's at Cedar Lake before the rest of the country ever heard of him. I still remember turning to my son the second or third time he came down here and saying "that kid in the black 15 is going be pretty good some day if he doesn't knock the wall down first".

I have no doubt Kyle Petty will be bashing and saying Larson needs to worry about the Cup Championship. At leat you don't have the stupid FOX crew who will just say something dumb thinking they are smart. I remeber talking to a Nascar fan after a Eldora Truck race and he wondered what the cup cars would be like there ,but he was convinced that the cup cars would have to much horsepower for the dirt.

The Fox crew, the same Fox crew with Jeff Gordon? They would be oozling over him.

I don't watch NASCAR because quite frankly, I can't stand it but I'm well aware of the various "opinions" that many NASCAR people have had regarding sprint car racing before & I'm sure this won't be any different. But with that said, none of those idiots such as Kyle Petty sign the front of Larson's paychecks, Chip Ganassi does and Kyle got permission from the boss to go drive a real race car in a race that he probably wants to win more than any other on earth so to hell with them. Let them talk. The fact is, Kyle is a sprint car driver. His job is NASCAR but we all know what's in his heart is and his boss supports him so their opinions at the end of the day, don't matter. I for one would love to see him win Knoxville. That'd be pretty damn cool.

Because of the following.
1. Larson isn't an ass on camera. Busch is. While it's entirely possible Kyle Busch is a cool cat and down to earth, he doesn't do himself any favors during his interviews and such.
2. Trucks and Xfinity racing is in essence very similar to the Cup cars. While yes it is racing, there is nothing about a Sprint Car that can be carried over to a Cup car. Some folks view it like cherry picking
3. Lets face it, the local fans like to see the best of their locals take on guys like Larson, Abreu, and Stewart.
Calling it a massacre is somewhat of an embelishment but yes, he had the car to beat no getting around that. Thats part of it. Sometimes you get on a setup or get a particular car/chassis that is just magic. Look at the run the 69k car was on for awhile.

Larson racing tonight makes it more likely I'll watch the Nationals. It's tempting because of what this race is, but the possibiity of Kyle coming from 9th to race Schatz, Gravel, etc. for the win is intriguing and I wouldn't put it past him.
Hope Wolfe & Dietrich gain a couple of spots in the B too.

Well Gordon is the only person in that crew with a functioning brain. I never was a Gordon Fan but, Mike Joy and DW would act like they kew about sprnt car racing and end up saying something extra stupid. My opinion of every Fox broadcast is Jeff Gordon makes a good point and Joy and DW ignore it and stay in thier boogity boogity la la land.

I'll be getting the PPV tonight and cheering on all the other drivers from MN, WI, SD, Winnipeg and maybe even one from ND that we've been watching since his 360 days as well. As long as it's a safe and entertaining race I'm fine with whatever the outcome is. That's the cool thing about racing, there isn't one winning team and one losing team, I can change hats anytime during the race and cheer for any one of a couple dozen favorites.
