Update?? 3 is pretty early to make a big guess on the number of drivers. If I did that for the FRC yesterday it would have been less than 10 since they opened the gates right around 3.

At 6:30 I asked at the pit gate how many were signed in..... 6 or 7 Midgets and 20 Micro's. I'll gladly support racing but no way in hell am I paying $25 for that.

It's pretty sad that you can pay $6,000 to win for a midget show and only have 5 cars show up. Of course, they never should have advertised that they would have drivers like Rico Abreu and Dave Darland here if they didn't have a hard commitment from them. Right now things are on hold because they didn't have an ambulance at the track.
I'm just considering it a donation to Robert Bell's racing fund, which is an alright cause.

I'm in total agreement, I was walking out the door to head down there from Des Moines when I saw the post that there were only 5 midgets there. I was under the impression that the Clauson-Marshall team would be there, amongst Rico, Shuman, and maybe even a couple of surprise entries. I guess when only 23 showed at Belleville last weekend, that may have chopped down on how many they were hoping for, but DAMN!! I feel really bad for Tim St. Arnold and Robert Bell. I was hoping this would become a staple during Nationals week for years to come. Maybe it still could...

They're qualifying the micros right now. A huge black hauler just rolled into the pits. Hopefully that thing has 3 or 4 cars to add to the show.

I am on vacation at a dirt track watching dirt fly. Not he best turnout but I have wasted money on worse. No 4 bangers and doored cars.

The crowd is pretty damn good I think. Not many happy people though. No cars and an hour delay for an ambulance will do that to people though.

I'm sure it will.
I feel bad they didn't get the cars but hopefully they can at least cover their expenses for the night. Having no cars is bad. Having no cars and no gate $$ is worse.

They're getting ready to run the micro heat races. One of the micros that took off their wings flipped in hot laps. Don Droud Jr. was here, but his car wouldn't fire. Something broke on Robert Bell's car (I'm not sure who was driving it, but it wasn't Robert). So we're down to three midgets and a few micros. The program is running very slowly and people are leaving. I wanted for this event to be a success, but I'm afraid this will be the first and last Comet Classic.

Social media saved me a few bucks thankfully. I went over there and confirmed the twitter reports with my own eyes. When i saw the drivers advertised, I almost bought an advanced ticket. What was up with advertising those names?
i went to English Creek, pretty cool place.
