Absolutely right! In fact in the interviews Ruetzel admited to it and Agan said something like..."at these speeds on the start you've got to keep your bumper off the guy in front of you"......He knew he'd been tagged from behind.

You spelled Reutzel wrong...

As others have said, Reutzel got into the back of Agan pushing him into the berm and causing him to go up across the track.

Most moronic thing of the night goes to this though:

Looking at both videos ,i would say the Hill 77 car did start to brake, but then ducked her head as it looked like Sammy's car was gonna land right on top of her.Natural reaction in that situation and at that speed.JMO

Contrary to popular belief, these cars do not stop on a dime. The brakes in a sprint car really aren't that good despite the cars being really light.  From the in-car video it looks like Hill did everything she could to try and get slowed down, but ran out of time and space.  The only other options would be ramping up the back of the red car to her front/inside or stuffing her car it into the fence and still possibly catching Swindell's car.

It's so easy for people who have never even sat in one of these cars to throw blame at Jon Agan (he had help from behind, btw) or explain 1,001 reasons why Hill should have missed Swindell. When the front of the field starts having a titanium yard sale the cars starting in the back are still building up speed.  With the wings of 15 cars in front of you plus the dust and chalk line getting blown up, it's nearly impossible to see what's going on that far up ahead when everybody is 3-4 wide. Hill most likely didn't even see Swindell's car until she swerved to miss the red car and by that time it was too late.

+1.

1. Agan got bumped/pushed by Reutzel.

2. Hill had nowhere to go and no options.  The field was about 5 wide near her when Sammy came back flipping. IF she would've ducked down she would've taken out a ton more cars, caused a bigger wreck, etc. She had no time for all the reasons Tony states here. It was an accident.

A very sound, factual description of what happened last night and I totally agree with your synopsis. I'm just very glad everyone walked away from this very vicious accident. And, while this is or was no laughing matter, your description, "when the front of the field starts having a titanium yard sale..." is a description I have never heard before for such an event and will forevermore think of when said events inevitably occur again. Good one.

The part that amazes me and that I am most thankful for is with the amount of fuel that was tossed in the air and on each one of the drivers involved in the crash that there wasn't a fire. When you consider how quickly methanol can flash, the number of ignition sources, and just the obvious amount of it this may be evidence of a "miracle". With all the effort to place blame or fault being put forth so far I'm surprised someone hasn't pointed that out. Well maybe not so much. Some people need to learn how to be thankful for a good or better outcome before they start taking to social media to again reinforce the perception that they are only concerned about themselves. Maybe "wow that was a nasty one  but thanks to the safety equipment on my dad's car and the good Lord above he will get a chance to race another day".

I agree with you blazer00,Reutzel got into the back of Agan, and then Agan cross back into the middle of the track, and then Reutzel again got into the back of Agan and then steered right into the side of Swindell puting him into the wall.

In the flesh NWFAN!  Hard to believe someone remembers me. I've lurked around here for years since the old board and, for some reason, a few times in the past few weeks have felt the urge to post a few times.
