What a show! If we just had a curb on a regular basis in the "hot bed" of the state. Larson would have been fun but Donny aint too shabby either.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Cushion was good and kept moving up. Donny mentioned it post race but real late in the race off of turn four the cushion/curb actually went over the edge. It caught Brent Marks and obviously Haud. They ran out of real estate.
As an aside you'd (maybe not you personally, but some Posse chest thumpers) be surprised how many WoO drivers and crews regularly say Lernerville is their fav track in PA...as in all of PA.

+1. Great post. I live in PA and go to the Grove and the Port at least twice a month. We NEED a cushion. Saw what the Silver Crown race at the Grove last year brought. Windom & Clauson were a show! Thanks Lernerville for preparing a "race" track.

No surprise there at all, for the most part they all hate the Grove except for Donny. Donny told me a story once when we were talking about who was hated there more, him or me. He was out on the track before the A checking it out and somebody from Beerhill hit him with a whole piece of pizza, he laughs about it now but at the time it pissed him off and he said that was the night he won his first A-Main there. He's won so much there, he likes the place and he loves the fans as well. Anyone who spends time with Donny will like him, especially having a cool one after the race, yes even in PA....

Donny is all business during the race night (some people can't understand how serious he takes it and that he gets into "work mode" during the race night). Approach him way early before races (when pits first open) or after and he's always been cordial, open, nice and a little funny to me. Regularly is the last hauler to leave pits as he signs and talks with fans. He may not be as magnetic a person as say Brian Brown, but he's willing to talk prior to or after the night's races. A respectful and class act guy who, yes, has come "out of his shell" the last couple years.
Aside, many fans would be surprised how many of the well known "good guys" of the sport are always the first ones to leave the pits and not talk with fans after races. I don't fault them at all, it's a long day/night and they have more work and traveling to do. Just sayin those guys get a pass but Schatz gets raked over the coals for every little thing (yes I know it's because he's the best and that's the microscope that comes with it).

Looked like a thin cushion up around the very outer rim of the track just like it should be for the feature. When a central PA track is like that, the same 2-3 people will still bitch that there wasn't a huge curb lower on the track.

It's been a good week. Port Royal had a hell of a nice surface Saturday night with an unblemished cushion which allowed sprint cars to do what sprint cars were intended to do. Then Sunday at Susky we had another gem of a surface and of course as usual, Lernerville delivered the goods. Hope this is a sign of things to come and cushions will be no longer prohibited in the Keystone state.

I like it! People are saying what a nice track Lernerville is. No suprise here, I already knew it, if you recall I ranted that we need a Pa Speedweek show there. The Port will always be my favorite, but I don't like that at times Lernerville is overlooked. It always produces good racing. Yes they run mods and late models( i'm ok with it) but it still is a great sprint car track.

Lernerville's cushion has claimed many. That little bump when you are coming out of 3 and thru 4 has made many pay with high flips and as in the case twice Tuesday down the front straightaway. The problem is it's tuff to see and you bang the RR into it to hard it pulls the front end around into the wall and then you become a spectator until your cleared for landing.

Yep,I was there a few years back for a BOSS non wing show and same thing happened to Johnny Beaber in B main. He saved it and kept going and won the B main. I talked to him about it after the show and he described it just as you have here. BTW if you ever get a chance to talk to Johnny B, take it , he's a great guy with lots of great stories to tell.

Lernerville is also one of the best places for a shooter to do his work at. How many other tracks can you get a picture of clouds underneath the car like you can when they run the high side along the back stretch, loved that place!!

Went to the Silver Cup for the first time a couple of years ago and it was an awesome race. Wish I lived closer to Lernerville as I would probably go almost every week. Every time I have gone it has been fast, its had a high line, a bottom line, plenty of passing, and the dust is limited. Its probably in my top 3 or 4 tracks for sure.

I think Lernerville is the only track in the country that runs 410 Sprints, Late Models and Big Block Modifieds weekly. I think many people consider it a "Sprint Car track" first and foremost, not only in this area but across the country because of the track's historical ties to WoO (hosting WoO races for many many decades) and ASCOC. Not if we can only get USAC to include it during Eastern Storm (or Lernerville to make a push for a USAC Race)...

Bullseye! , as for USAC they last had them back in 2012 I think?-good race-,dont know why they haven't had them back. It's a very good non wing track( right size at 3/8ths and lots of sliders with the high banking). I like the BOSS series shows there alot. I too wish they would have USAC back. What can we do to make a push for it?

Hmmm...I've asked PR Director about it in passing. I'll inquire with track ownership if I get the chance. It'd have to be during Eastern Storm USAC doesn't come back East I believe and probably wouldn't come for a one-off show that far. Maybe it's simply a logistical challenge fitting it in with Eastern Storm. Or maybe Lernerville never made a push for it. I'll try and find out.

Thanks! Please post anthing you find out and I'll do the same. Maybe it could be a Sunday or a Monday show to start the Eastern Storm week. I Think being in western pa helps because they could also get some BOSS cars and maybe some regular non wing Indiana racers to come. Never know--might get 35 plus cars.
