Most will say around 500, but in all actuallity they put out 425-450 if the dyno isn't lying.

French Grimes said in either Flat Out or Sprint Car and Midget 400 HP, (if I remember his name correctly and one of the men behind spec engines). Don't remember if that was a wheel dyno or an engine dyno but in a light sprint car, not a lot of difference in the two numbers, I think.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

Way too much. Car counts are down, a guy on welfare can't be competitive with such craziness, the Chinese can't mass produce something so complicated, way too different than a 57 Nomad engine..........just completely out of hand
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Thank you madsen and bosmaracing23. As for alum.427 and minthess, um yeah. Had a good time even with a small field (11) and they only ran a main due to incoming weather. Took some friends who had never seen sprints and they were impressed.

Come to the Racesaver IMCA Sprint Nationals September 1st through the 3rd. Last year we had 117 cars and this year we'll have who knows how many?
Close racing every heat and feature.
Come enjoy yourself!!!
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

puckzx6, glad you enjoyed the Dixieland show & your friends had a good time. That's super cool you brought some new folks to a sprint car race Dixieland is a little over a 4 hr pull for us, & we really appreciated them moving our feature up in the order with weather firing off all around the track. We (Virginia Sprint Series) raced again Saturday night 3.5 hrs NW of there at Eastside Speedway. Come over & see us when you are at one of these sprint shows again!
On the post title, I never had any of mine dynoed, so I have zero idea. That said, I sure hear '450 + some' mentioned a lot. The 'dirt dyno' is the only way we've put a load on ours so far.. maybe we'll get a nice paper printout of one someday.

Depending on who you talk to LOL......the average is somewhere around 450-500.......breaking it down, all things being new, roughly $25 - $32 per HP (obviously the $25 being closer to the 450-460 range and the $32 being in the 500 range)..........the 500 hp engine should be more than competitive wherever you run it.......allthough not "cheap", it is affordable........ a regional/nationally competitive 360 at 700 HP being in the $40,000+ range is $57 per HP .......take Greg's advice and plan a vacation this Labor day to catch the Racesaver Nationals......don't think you'll be disappointed.
