Well, if he's running a 360 there this weekend, probably for a reason, no?

I ran into Smoke last year in the Hall of Fame during the Nats and asked him that very question. He said it was his goal for this year to be physically ready to run the Nationals. He was still kind of recovering from injury at that point though. I'm assuming he's running the 360s this weekend to work towards being ready, assuming he isn't already there. Go Smoke!

I would say that the 360 nationals is almost a clear cut yes unless they feel after this weekend they cannot compete at a high level. This weekend is more than likely a test to see where they stand with their program. As for the 410 nationals, more than likely that will be determained after their 360 performance. If they make the the A-Main and are running well then I would say yes. If they do not make the A-main and are struggling in the B or C, then it would probably be a no.

I say NO. The guy has way to much at stake for something stupid to happen. The nationals are a high tension up on the wheel keep it to the floor board race. Sit back smoke and watch DS. Watch any of the A main drivers, knoxville is there Indy 500.

Tony is a racer, there's no such thing as "way to much at stake" in his world, he goes where he wants and does what he pleases, that's what makes him who he is....

Only thing I've ever heard or seen in print that he has said is that he won't come to the Nationals unless he thinks he's ready to compete.
Even a couple years ago when he won some WoO races he said he wasn't ready for the Nationals.
Given all the extra-curricular stuff he does that week, it'd be tough to be a competitor too (Kick-It, Go Kart event, appearances, parties every night, etc., etc.).
