Traugett Doubles Up While Gould, Smith, Roach, Elliott, Kaup and Scruggs Also Win During Top Gun Series Doubleheader at Longdale Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - LONGDALE, Okla. (July 3, 2017) - William Gould, Cole Traugett, Mike Roach and Donald Kaup scored wins on the final evening of the 4th annual America Proud 4th of July Celebration on Sunday night at Longdale Speedway, which hosted a Top Gun Series doubleheader last weekend.
Gould charged from the ninth starting position to take the IMCA modifieds feature victory over Traugett, who started 12th. Kip Hughes was third followed by Tanner Black and Nick Link.
Gould, Link and Hunter McDonald each won heat races.
Traugett topped the IMCA stock cars field as he advanced from the ninth starting spot for the win. Gary Williams crossed the finish line in second ahead of Hesston Shaw, Kevin Flock and Travis Baird, respectively.
Kevin Flock and Traugett took heat race wins.
Roach powered from the fifth starting row to win the IMCA sport mods main event. He was chased to the checkered flag by 11th-starting Ross McCartney, Johnie Rauschenberg, McDonald and Kyle Slader, respectively.
McCartney, Slader and Jimmie Wright were first to the finish line in the three heat races.
Kaup topped the field in the pure stocks feature. Alex Fennema finished second followed by James Phelps, Skylar McCall and Austin Sessions, respectively.
Heat races were won by Kaup and Tyler Scruggs.
Traugett was the weekend's only double winner as he raced from 10 th to claim Saturday's IMCA modifieds feature over Chad Melton, McDonald, Black and Jessie Hoskins, respectively.
Traugett and Jimmy Reeves won heat races.
Mark Smith passed more cars than any feature winner during the weekend as he charged from 13th to first in the IMCA stock cars A Main. J.D. Choate finished second followed by Paul Taylor, Kevin Flock and Michael Smith, respectively.
Heat race wins went to Matthew Smith and Landon Maddox.
Pole-starter Robert Elliott won the IMCA sport mods feature over Joe Adams, McCartney, Brandon Kenny and McDonald, respectively.
Heat races were won by Roach, Rauschenberg and McCartney.
Scruggs topped the pure stocks feature followed by Brian Byrd, Dustin Howard, Marvin Allen and Sessions, respectively, while Phelps and Scruggs won heat races.
Point championships remain up for grabs with one weekend of racing remaining for the Top Gun Series on Oct. 13-14. Although he has yet to win a series feature, Black's three top-five finishes place him at the top of the IMCA modifieds standings followed by Hoskins and Traugett.
Baird holds a narrow two-point lead over Michael Smith in the IMCA stock cars standings while Roach leads the IMCA sport mods standings followed by Adams. Allen has a slight one-point edge over Scruggs in the pure stocks standings.
The next race at Longdale Speedway will be on July 22, when the track hosts IMCA modifieds, IMCA sport mods, IMCA stock cars and pure stocks.
