Mattox Claims First Career NCRA Sprint Victory!
Park City, Kansas – July 1, 2017 - Fred Mattox made the drive from his Drumright, Oklahoma home a profitable one as he claimed his first career National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sprint car feature victory Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City.
Mattox, aboard his homebuilt powered, Triple X chassis sponsored by Young Tool Supply/D&E Drywall Supply/AKI Oil Field Services sprinter, started on the outside front row and held off a hard-charging Jeremy Campbell to take home the $2000 to win feature event.
Pole-sitter J.D. Johnson came home third with Danny Jennings and Kyle Clark rounding out the top five.
The heat races for the twelve-car field were won by Jennings and Don Droud, Jr.
With his second-place run, Campbell has closed to within five points of defending champion Droud in the 2017 points race as the series gears for the 61st running of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand Nationals presented by Midwest Super Store at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas on Friday and Saturday night, July 14-15. The Saturday night’s championship feature winner will earn $4000.
