The 17 hasn't shown much this season with Joey, but with a wheelman like Larson the team finally wins one. Impressive

A guy who does it for fun beats those who do it for a living. Ironic.

First time in the car, likely the first time at that track. He's incredible. It was a heck of a race.

Now could you imagine if Larson ran full time in sprints? Donny and Gravel would have a fun time trying to catch Kyle.

You're being very very kind to Don and Dave. He's the best to ever breath.

Saldana is the last guy on the planet to make excuses. Every other driver this side of Steve Kinser and Ray Tilley runs out of excuses when Kyle is involved.

One thing that is not mentioned here is that Joey was in a KPC and Kyle ran a J&J. Maybe its time to give Joey a chance in the J&J and see what happens? Just throwing ideas out at this point, because I cannot imagine Joey really falling off as much as he has. Some drivers just don't respond well to a new chassis. Greg Hodnett is another one struggling this year in a new chassis

Definitely not bashing Joey as he is a class act. Just don't understand why he has been slow this year. Tend to wonder if that wreck at volusia changed his mindset a little.

Joey ran the J&J most of the year. So you can throw that out. And Hodnett recently switched to maxim and won.

Joey had 3 months in the j&j already. Started the season with it. Just recently sitched to KPC at Eldora and has been running that for a month

Was going to say that also he did run j&j earlier in season and they switched for Joey.
maybe the volusia wreck has a lasting effect on a driver it was a horrible horrible thing to go threw!

Larsen is by far the best talent in racing today. He could hop in about any decent ride and run at the front. I have seen driver after driver change chassis and have the same results. Its usually the driver or the crew chief and not the chassis.

He'd be better than Schatz within a year or 2 of racing them full-time. He's truly an unbeleivable talent.

Keith Kunz said it best after Kyle's last WOO race. He tweeted "Crewchiefs there's nothing wrong with your car. You just don't have Kyle Larson driving it." Lol. That about sums it up. The kid is an amazing talent that only comes around once in a generation if not longer. No one should feel embarrassed when he outruns them. There's no other driver on the planet right now who can do what he can. He could jump in any WOO car out there and do what he did last night. Plus he can jump in any non wing car and any midget and do the same thing. NASCAR is a little more dependent on the car but given equal cars he'll outrun most of them too. I have no doubt when Chip gets him in an Indy car he's going to do the same thing.

A couple of thoughts from someone who was at the races last night.
Kyle drives the car very hard. They had a motor issue after his heat race and we were joking that the crew needed to tighten things up since everything was "Joey tight, not Kyle tight". He is able to drive the car just on the edge of being in control. Sometimes that means checkers, other times that mean wreckers.
He and Shane Stewart had an awesome battle for second place. Close racing all over the track. He definitely makes them step their game up.
Donny was good, but not great last night. He was not fast in the middle and didn't ever seem to find a line he liked.
I wonder if Kyle would drive that hard over an entire season? A lot of maintenance on the car to be done...
I also question how much the NASCAR racing helps him. He's got to stay sharp for 3+ hours on Sundays. That has to make it easier to focus for 30 - 50 laps. He did sound like he was a little out of breath when he got out of the car last night.

agree....
the question I have is if you put him in the 15 car, does he lap the field??
The guy has shown he has unbelievable talent. Like it or not, the BEST thing he has ever done is move up to CUP. It has allowed him to own a full-time WoO team and once in a while he'll run a car as teamate to Rico in the SIlva 57, or teamate to his own team at LMR, or like last night jump in a car for SJW Racing.
First time I saw him drive at Knoxville he could do things that no one else could with the car, including Lasoski, Wolfgang, and Schatz (argueably the 3 best at Knoxville ever).

Joey is 45 and Larson is 24. No doubt Joey can still wheel but being older with a demanding schedule can play a part. Not to mention Larson is one of the best wheelman in anything he straps into.
