DISCLAIMER: This only includes the points fund (full time) all star drivers, Shaffer is currently 5th although not running for points fund or full time.
Hey everyone, was wanting to post a pretty good breakdown of who's been making the features, how many races etc for the full time All Stars. Just thought it was interesting and others might like to see it too. Pretty much what everyone thought at the beginning of the year has been the case. The rainouts have really hurt the drivers who couldn't make the trip to florida as you can tell by the races column vs the points total. I get why they made it count for points this year but I really don't think they should do that again unless they REALLY pay big time tow money for those making the trip. It's influenced the points race way too much so far. Also, under position ( the first column) the parenthesized number is the actual ranking for the points including non- all star drivers. The points fund is determined by the non-parenthesized number. Top 15 get points fund. You can also tell how many features a driver made by racing his way in versus provisionals by subtracting the features number of used provisionals from the number of features
Just a note, if you compare to the all star site there is an issue where it gave many drivers one too many top 5, top 10, and feature appearances. I had to do a lot of manual labor for this and I thought it was gonna be a ten minute copy and paste job so I hope you guys take interest and discuss how you feel about the points breakdowns and especially the influence of the florida races. Also, the parenthesized number after races is inclusive of the show up points awarded for the Angell Park rainout.

What's insane about that list assuming this is accurate, is that of the 14 races run, series regulars have won only 2 of 14 races. And if you take out Kemenah, series regulars have only 6 top 5's in 14 races. (Only 3 series regulars have scored a top 5 in 14 races)
The Outlaws series regulars have won 27 of 32 races so far (84 percent)
Has there ever been a weaker group of All Stars? Not from a numbers perspective but from a quality perspective?

Not too many overall career wins by many of the drivers after the top 5 or 6 in points, let alone All Star wins.

There is a big parity between the Outlaws and All Stars. But honestly I really can't complain. The local drivers are getting very nice paychecks this year. I was at Attica May 26th and the top 5 was all local drivers which is certainly awesome for the locals to do that. Kemenah had been DQ'd that night. The drivers have been putting on an entertaining show and fight like hell for those transfer spots in the heats and B mains. And I can actually be happy when one of the guys puts it in the feature, I'm pulling for the drivers to improve every week.
Another thing that when put in to perspective makes sense... There are only 3 drivers in the series that actually have an ASCoC win. Chad Kemenah, Ryan Smith, and Brandon Matus (Sharon 2013). Caleb Helms just got his first two 410 wins in unsanctioned races at Attica and Mansfield this March. And Caleb Armstrong has looked very strong but has had bad luck when battling for podiums and wins this year getting caught up in lappers spinning. I'd look for a win or two from some of the better drivers in the series before the year is up.
Notice a lot of the rookies are from Western PA too. Mackison brothers, Brent and Brandon Matus, John Garvin, and Spithaler. Odd that 6 drivers from the same area who never travelled too awful much in the past (some did a little but not like the All Stars do) decided to run in my opinion the 2nd most prestigious 410 series in the country. I'm sure there is a reason why but I'm not gonna speculate.

Nitpicking here, but Mackison bros are not from Western PA...I believe they're from York.

I'm pretty sure you're right on where there from but to my knowledge they ran mostly Lernerville/Mercer area until this year? I could be wrong though.

It is pretty crazy, but what was the % last year? Because outside of Blaney and Sheldon its not liked the regulars cleaned house either - Kemenah only had 1 win and won the championship.
The All-Stars don't have a lot of depth but I think that's part of why you've seen bigger car counts than the last few years...its so wide open you have a lot more competitors capable of winning any given night, even if they aren't with the series.
Can't wait for Speedweek...the car counts are going to be insane.

I think they ran part-time with ASCOC last year. They definitely did not consistently attend Lernerville (not sure about Mercer). Doesn't mean they didn't come to the odd show at LVille, but were definitely not regulars. Again, nitpicking. No worries.

No doubt, w/o Sheldon and Blaney last year, the numbers are just as bad. They won 16 of 43 A Mains.
Ohio Speedweek is probably my 2nd favorite sprint car event, behind Knoxville. It'll be nuts this year for sure.

In the world of outlaws 17 of 33 races this far have been won by Gravel and Schatz. With other outlaws picking up 10 of the other wins and 6 races going to non-regular WoO drivers. Meanwhile last year the all stars had 6 wins in 43 events outside of the Sheldon/Blaney duo. A lot of that is due to the talent difference so. But the dominant drivers in a series are going to be dominant, just how it is. Kemenah has never seemed to rattle off wins but is a very consistent high placing top 5 car/driver.

You make a fair point, but the number of current tour followers without a top 5 through 14 races is still pretty stunning.

11 of the 17 are rookies. I think another fact to point out is people underestimate the skill of the Ohio locals where most of their races have been. The all stars have always struggled in Central PA, Blaney and Kemenah were usually the only ones who even pushed for a top 5 there past few years. Guys like Cole Duncan, Byron Reed, DJ Foos, Travis Philo, Jac Haud, Brad Haud, Danny Mumaw, Andrew Palker, Lee Jacobs, the list goes on and on. They're all pretty damn good drivers (especially Jac) and have always been competitive with the All Stars even when the field was stronger. Palker and Jacobs had a decent year with All stars last year and are certainly more formiddable at their local tracks.

This is always forgotten. There's not much chest beating in this part of the country, so our locals often get dismissed.
