The racing was pretty intense all through the field. Track was very racy with high and low grooves to run and even some through the middle. Lasoski had a great night with less than top shelf equipment. Haude moved forward as did Kaeding. It was 24th to 12th for Pittman which earned him the Hard Charger Award. With 100+ sprint cars last night the track prep was well maintained. Re worked the track before the 360 and 410 A mains which ran the night a little late......but what the hell. I don't mind waiting for a good track and a good race. Beats hell out of a follow the leader yawner and an early night in my book any day! Well earned night by the Madsen brothers! The Outlaws now have another area in the country where they need to be on top of their game!

Not sure why they had the 305's also, sorry.  With about 80 360's and 410's you have more than a good show and it would save the track a bit and also have sped the night up.  6 hours is a long night......

Some of my most favorite Jackson Nationals memories of the past included some that lasted well into the wee hours due to wild racing incidents...culminating with ginormous severe t-storms, resulting in us returning the next afternoon for the resumption of the show...and then everyone hauling azz to make it to the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds event that night.

I'm glad to see this event returning into a 'real' National event again - not just a fluffed up regular-type regional race with the word 'national' in it.

My friends in attendance last night said it was a highly entertaining and exciting night of racing. Hope they can dodge the weather system that is affecting us south of there 900 miles as well.

I also think it's awesome that Knoxville is still able to race, yet their 410 teams can race at Jackson. Fans win in both cases. Good job to Doug Johnson and all involved...and have a great time up there (while we'll most likely get rained out down here...).    Smile

Here's my thoughts on that.

#1, you want to reward the racers who support your track all year long. Those teams deserve to be a part of the big shows that they pave the way for by being there week in and week out. The Racesaver sprints also put on a good show, regardless of track conditions almost every time.

It's also possible that the facility wasn't sure what the car count was going to be, so they made sure to add the Racesavers.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I'd say your thoughts are spot on!

Why was the 18 put back in the lead for the restart, sure looked like they completed that lap. Pretty good racing on a big fast track. That black car really got tore up, hope the driver was OK.

We were coming off of a caution when Ian was passed for the lead, and under WoO rules, when coming back from caution the ENTIRE field has to complete the lap for it to count (unlike a "normal" lap when only the leader and one other car need to cross the line for the lap to count).   Hope that explains why Ian went back to the front.

Johnny,  Thanks for your  insightful comment.  Thanks for keeping up to date on rules and inside info on the WoO trail.

To me it makes more sense to run 305s one night, 360s the next and have Saturday as the night you run all 3 divisions. Getting out at near 1am is a little much on a weeknight.

Who were the drivers who flipped in the A feature? The third one with the black car at the bottom of turn one looked pretty major. Wad the whole car in front of the engine gone?

Aaron Reutzel Was the black car with the front end gone.  Glad I stayed up again tonight but I really hope they figure out moving things along.  I guess I do get that it was hot and windy and I'm with Blazer, I'd rather stay up late to see a good track VS a single file race.  That 360 A was  outstanding.  Midwest 2 WOO 0

Yeah, should never have more than 1 support division for a WOO show IMO.

I loved last night's program on Dirtvision.  Didn't mind three divisions of sprints.  They all put on a great show.  The show lasted forever, but it was all sprints so lasting forever isn't a bad thing in this case.

Question?  Whats the deal with that wall on the backstretch?  Whats its made of?  Who decided on that big ass thing and why?  Its pretty intimidating.

It's actually the Jackson Nationals.......and the three classes support the track during the season so including all three is a good thing. Now, the event incorporates the WoO, which takes it to an all new level. Being the first year as it is, I'm sure they will fine tune the event to fit a better nightly time frame. But to have 100 sprint cars, and three divisions that can produce some very exciting racing is the best thing of all!

The pits are on the other side of that wall. It is made of concrete. I'm sure it's to provide the best protection possible for the pit area. (and to support billboards) Smile

Actually, this is the 11th time the WoO has sanctioned the race in it's 39 year history.

Would it be any more intimidating than the wall on the front stretch? Or the wall on the backstretch of any other race tracK? It might just be camera distortion that makes it look like the walls of Jericho. I bet it reflects back the sound of the cars pretty good.
