Sadly, word comes today that one of true greats of not only sprint car racing, but all of racing in general, has passed away. Jim McElreath, age 89, is gone. He was truly a legend in the sport we all love & the father of sprint car driver James McElreath (12/54 - 10/77). Deepest condolences to Jim's wife Shirley, his family, friends & his many fans over the years.

Truly an American Classic in all senses of the word.  He could and would race anything with wheels, winning with class.
