Kerry Madsen gets rained out and Brent Marks finishes 6th @ Plymouth, both loose 6 spots. McMahan finishes 21st @ Plymouth and moves up 4 spots. Head scratcher!

Yea, kind of goofy. Its just the opinions of whoever votes. Looks like they have a panel...

Definitely some name bias on this list. Best example I can see is Ian Madsen.
Also curious why McCarl removed himself from the list, and why the site honored it. Seems like if these guys want any validity to these rankings, they would respectfully decline that request.
I think they should do themselves a favor and can the preseason rankings and honestly not do them until there's a decent sample size to judge upon. I understand it gets clicks, but again, if you want people to respect the rankings it's unfairly putting guys on a false pedestal as it happens in college football.

It's 8 or 9 people's opinions. Nothing more, nothing less. Certainly not something to be taken too seriously, but also nothing to insult either.

Not sure if true, but heard team was shaking down a new car. The 27 is struggling for sure. Hope they get back on track before the WoO comes to central Pa.

There is a sprint car power rankings poll I posted a couple of days ago that is a joke. Listed in order: 1. Hafertepe 2. Herrera 3. Gravel 4. Schatz
All great drivers, either presently or in the past. But Herrera in 2nd? Hafertepe before Gravel and Schatz? Hmm. Wonder if the person conducting this poll happens to be an ASCS fanatic?
The Sprint Car Poll you are referring to is not a joke. It's a poll. The results listed are from the actual legitimate poll. Yes, there are positions which can be fiercly debated and not everyone is going to agree. But not a joke.
1 and 2: Gravel and Schatz are #1 and #2. Lots of debate who is 1 and who is 2 but there is really no argument for putting anyone else at 1 or 2. They got the top two positions correct. If anyone tries to argue this, there is likely just more of a hatred for the WOO than rational thought involved.
3. Sweet. Same top 5's and 1 less top ten than our #1 and #2 drivers. Driving for one of the top funded teams in the country and a solid track record. Good choice for 3.
Solid choices for top 3. Then we get into the jumbled mess that is the debate over the 4th thru 25th positions.
4. Johnson?. I will say this is where some legitimate debate could begin. But I wouldn't move JJ out of my top 10. Up and down season thus far, but by far his strongest start to a WOO season. He is going to ride the coattails of his Nationals win for a while yet and deservedly so.
5. Brown. May be early to have him ranked this high but 7 top 5's in WOO competition with a win (as a part timer) and the opening night win at Knoxville? Not too bad by most standards. Once again, maybe not top 5 yet, but top 10 for me for sure.
As far as the other 20 spots? Those spots could change weekly and will. (so could the top 3 for that matter) The debate will rage there for the next 5 or 6 months. So, don't take the poll too seriously. Just a group of opinions and not ridiculously off base.

I like the site and like the poll but I do think a larger sample for the poll will certainly improve upon it's validity. 20 or so "voting members" would be more credible than 9. Just an idea not a necessity.

Its for entertainment guys, relax. Its not like it's college football. Its not like the top 24 of the pole are awarded an A main starting spots at the Nationals. Just take it at face value.

I agree with you on many of these points, don't get me wrong. But it is strictly a poll like some stated. And I agree with GTigers55 that a larger sample size would be good, however it was tough to get the 10 put together that we have now. And I think you'll all agree that the group of voters I've put together is knowledgable about the sport, and many of them are highly respected in the industry.

Agreed, SLINK51. Maturity and gaining more and more experience are starting to pay dividends. The kid's coming into his own right before our eyes week after week, and I, for one, consider it a privilege to be able to watch them grow and mature into the future top dogs of the 410 world. Provided they keep their egos and verbal diarrhea in check, I'm a fan of every one of them. The ageless veterans combined with the up and coming stars keep the blood fresh and circulating in the Central PA sprint world.
Attempting to be a voice of reason in a world full of
irrationality.
