Win #5 for the #5!
|
IF the Knoxville Nations were held on a 3/8 mile track I would guess we could have a different winner and like last year with JJ winning everyone would be happy. But as the tracks get longer and drier Schatz will still be the favorite. The Nationals take a good week to get in A main. But imagine if someone like S.Haud,or Gravel ,or Logan S. could win the crowd would go wild. Different winners are good and a Sides win would have been good for the sport too just gave Gravel the bottom and it was over.

Gravel had 8 of his 9 wins last season after May 15th-- as the tracks got longer and drier.
As far as Knoxville? Have not seen anything out of Gravel at the Nationals that would tell me he is a threat there yet. Doesn't really matter though. Only a few points races at Knoxville each year so won't be a factor in the championship.

Good for him. I'm very glad that someone has come along that seems like he can legitimately challenge Schatz. On a different note, I was watching this shop tour of CJB on youtube today and I was very very impressed with the resources they have behind them. (The video is a couple years old but definitely worth a watch - Its every single Saturday night sprint car racers dream shop. Just the amount of inventory they keep there to run 1 car is mind blowing. It's completely amazing to me just how much money it takes to compete properly at that level... https://youtu.be/h0XkRhjECak

Correct on all accounts. He has won a prelim and he has made the A most tries. However, you are correct---he fades quickly on championship night. Let's see how he looks in early June. Hoping he can be a threat in August though.

Huge win for Gravel. Things could have gotten interesting if a late yellow would have flown but good for him, it didn't.
Once again, he is gonna give the 15 fits this year.

Pretty clear to see that Gravel/Schatz are going to win the majority of the WoO races this year. They've already got a heck of a headstart. Schatz 9, Gravel 6, Sweet 2, Jason Johnson 2, Schuhart 2, Brown/Rico/PPM 1 each. Or in other words Schatz/Gravel 15 wins and the field 9 wins. People may not like the comparison but these two are your Kinser/Swindell/Wolfgang that will be dominant for years to come. *Incoming "Kinser/Swindell/Wolfgang were way better" comments bc Hoseheads*

Schatz 15th to 4th and coming.....even Cubic has to admit that's impressive...let's talk about how the Outlaws dominated instead...a former 2-time Posse winner of this show had a nice run vs. his not making the show in IN last weekend, gotta love the home turf, right? David was in another zone though, many many lapped cars ahead.....

The WoO format is pathetic. Never passed a car all night long. In the meantime, both Schatz and Montieth were coming in a hurry. One caution of any sort and odds are you have a different winner.

Someone posted that Gravel came from 7th. That is incorrect. He started on the pole.

Did he dab again?
If he can get away with dabbing still, I'd also like to see The Dougie, Stanky Leg, Lean Back, ChaCha Slide, Running Man, The Urkel, Boot Scootin' Boogie, Macarena, The Hustle, Watusi, Mashed Potato, Hand Jive, Rumba, Foxtrot, The Charleston, Slow Drag, and the Cakewalk.
Anyway congrats to the #5!

The car is on another planet most nights! Just as Schatz's car is. Today's drivers don't win if the car isn't set up like a slot car. Not to say the drivers aren't good, of course they are. But today's car has eliminated the pure driver being able to carry a car to victory.

REALLY? Schatz had the front axel shoved back about 6 inches and the front of the frame was all bent up after the hitting the 4 car (who had just blown up and stopped right in the groove) just last week. With 11 laps to go on the restart he drove away from the field. How is that not carrying a car to victory?
