Drag racing has The Wally, NHL the Stanley Cup, NFL the Lombardi Trophy. How about the trophy given to the Chili Bowl
champion renamed for Bryan?

I get what you are saying. Why Clauson? Absolutely not disrespect to him at all, the guy was an amazing talent and a top notch human being. But if you are going to name it for something that represents the Chilli Bowl, then why not name it after the Swindells who have dominated the race over the years?

I personally think naming the trophy after him is a disservice to him. I don't think he was the type of guy that ever thought "it's about me", he was just about the racing and winning trophies, not having them named after him.
If they did name it after him I wouldn't have an issue with it, just don't see it happening.

Crazy to even think about changing the name or style of trophy. Have you been to the expo center? The building the races are in was built with money from the oil right industry to make great place to showcase b their products, as part of that they constructed a very large and tall golden statue of a rough neck
This statue is extremely well know of has hundreds of pictures taken every year.

How about calling it "The Lanny"....no disrespect to any of the great drivers mentioned that had great runs at the Chili bowl, but as in "The Wally".....it was named after the man (or one of the men) that gave them the opportunity to have those great races............thoughts?.........................SC

The first four nights: The Crawford, The Clauson, The Vogler, don't know about number four.
On the final night The Lanny.
