Are there any updates on the attempted sale of Badlands?

One would assume that we are approaching D-day as far as having any racing for the 2017 season, correct?  (whether it be new owners or current ownership starting things back up this spring-if he were bluffing that is)

He is not bluffing. He is shuttering most of his businesses and properties and has been laying off people at a very quick pace. He has also cancelled every scheduled event at the pawn shop. One thing is for certain; Chuck Brennan will not be operating the speedway in 2017. If it is not sold it will sit idle.

Yo MadDog, how's Wilmot?  You said that's your home track, right?  That 8/18, 8/19, 8/20 weekend looks nice with 2 nights at Wilmot then Corn Fest at Angell Park.  Might make a nice vacation up to Wisconsin...hmmm...

Yes, my home track.  It has been around in one form or another, since about 1952.  The track is a 1/3, 3/8ths banked paper clip.  The racing is not too bad.  Some people will say it sucks or isn't that great, but what do they know?  The 2 nights at Wilmot are during the Fair and it will be PACKED.  Corn Fest will be PACKED also.  The closest hotel is about 8 miles or so away, and I do not think camping is available at either place during these fests.  May 20, Wilmot All Stars and May 21, Angell Park All Stars would be a good back to back but one less race than you mentioned above.  I camp, so I am partial to those type shows

I am planning on one or both of the Wilmot/Angell Park swing in May.  I am watching the IRA, All-Stars and WOO schedules to see what I can fit in this upcoming summer.  Already packing money in jars around the house!!

Only reason I inquire on Badlands is I strategically planned my family vacation trip to the Black Hills so we have a stay over in Brandon, SD on Saturday night.  And on the way home?  Jackson, MN on Friday night.

Hoping to see both tracks!!!!

(While we're at it Maddog--How 'bout the Hawks signing Artemi to a two-year extension?)

It is a nice sign.  It may cause the Hawk to go with Darling next year though.  They have to be pretty strapped as far as salaries are concerned.  If you come for the All Star show at Wilmot, I'll drag you to Angell Park the next day.  I know, let's race.......

Honest question. Is Crawford overrated? I feel like Darling can get the job done and the talent isn't that big a dropoff. I just think Crawford is overrated.

I actually feel he is under-rated.  Maybe the regular season numbers never show him as a top-5 goalie.......but he has been the best player in two Stanley Cups even though he didn't win the Con Smythe in either.

I get what your saying though.....you aren't alone in your thoughts.  Darling is probably every bit as good as he is in the regular season but Crawford was paid for what he has done in the last 3 or 4 years in the playoffs.  Time will tell.

Nickules, don't keep on topic.  This is a forum for sprint car fans. Not just for sprint car talk.  I like talking about other interests with fellow Hosers and I know Maddog does as well.

Yeah he was $ in both those playoff runs, you're right there. Regular season he's been meh...but can't argue with the rings. I just look at it as if he was on another team would he be as successful. He's not in the level of goalies who you could put on any team and be successful. Then again you don't need too. He's on the Hawks and has won multiple Cups.

Agree with EGRAS.  Hell, if he wouldn't have engaged me (or vice versa) in discussions about the Hawks during down times in the racing year, we may have never met and enjoyed the few tailgates and races that we have met up for.  My opinion on the Hawks goalies is that you can pretty much plug anyone in back there with Hammer, Seabs, Duncs and win a shit ton of games.  Anti Niemi hasn't done much since he won a Cup and left, plugged Crawford in and won two more.  I'm thinking that Darling could do the job also......We may be finding that out quicker than we think.....

Stubb, come on over, up, down, wherever you are from, to Wisconsin in May.  We may be able to have a huge Hoseheads sanctioned tailgate for the IRA and All Star shows

Have even been hearing a rumor or two that he may shut the radio station down too. No word on I-90 yet. One thing is for sure about that place.........I sure as hell would not want to have to be anywhere near the bleachers there or force anyone I know to be around them.

Crawford seems to always step up his game win the playoffs come around and is a whole different player compared to the regular season and is on a whole different level. Darling is a great option to have as a backup and probably would be a starter anywhere else in the NHL and could probably get the job but as you said in the playoffs, I'm going with Crawford over almost any other goaltender in the NHL. I married a Blackhawks fan so I follow and keep up with Chicago because of her.

I live in Columbus OH and grew up as a Ducks fan as they were just starting as a team when I started following hockey as a kid. Then obviously I started supporting the Blue Jackets as well once we got a team in Columbus so we are enjoying whats going on now. What is wierd is everyone around here is so obsessed with Ohio State football 24/7 to the point where it kind of makes you sick but now the talk around the talk has been about the Jackets instead of the College Football Playoff so its been refreshing not hearing about Ohio State every waking moment of the day.

By the way, thanks for Brandon Saad. He is working on nicely for us!!

Nice, another hockey nut!  I played hockey through college and I grew up playing with RJ Umberger, who as you know went to OSU and played for CBus for a while.  Known him for 30 years, though we kind of don't like each other so much anymore, haha.  Saad also grew up not too far from me and will probably end up being the best "Pittsburgh" born player ever in NHL.  Though I am a Trocheck fan as well so he'll have some competition.
