Bristol for sure as it is over 1/2 mile in size and Eldora is less than 1/2 mile if measured in same position on track as Bristol.  Just because a track is listed as a half mile or 3/8 th mile does not mean they really are so lap times mean nothing to compare speeds.

The only way to turn a half mile lap at Akira us to drive in the grass around the perimeter.  My signature has the average of actual measurements if the lowest and highest raceable grooves from the tracks listed.  Mearements taken with the surveyors wheel I use for work...

Eldora will never be a half mile track... No matter how many times someone says it on a microphone.

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Your memory is pretty darn good. Not quite 10 degrees but close. The concrete is corners 26-30 degrees...straights 6-10 degrees. when they dropped the dirt on it the corners went to 22-24 degrees and the straights were 9 degrees. I think it was 14,000 loads to cover it.

And to think, Sammy could have gone even faster if he had the higher banking.

Radar guns had them at 150 on the straights of Bristol.

Just curious, but where would Winchester fall in all of this?   At some point over the last couple of years, I saw where they were running winged sprints on the asphalt there and they were extremely fast.    I'm not sure of Winchester's exact size but I know it is very high banked and high speed.

Volusia is the fastest 1/2 mile dirt track in my travels.

I have been to Eldora in the late 80's and early 90's. It was badass! But after watching The Bristol challenges on Dirt That was scary fast. Lets get the ball rolling on this one. By the way Sammy was amazing both times there. Sammy and The Jet put on a helluva show back in the day!

I guess they race on Bristol with sprints somewhat regularly. These guys are nuts. https://youtu.be/DhsbKlpuOXY

Donny Shatz made the statement that it made Eldora look like a wussy track. Personally, in my humble opinion Knoxville is faster than Eldora. With Eldora being smaller by quite a bit, it seems faster. With Knoxville, the speed it constant and the cars are so hooked up that it doesn't really show.

Dolansky 12.7 Eldora

Sammy 13.6 Bristol

Eldora

Eldora is a short half mile. Bristol is a half around the bottom. I was talking to Greg Weld at the Chili Bowl a few years ago and he made the statement that Eldora was actually a short half, or a half around the outside. Bristol is a lot bigger. Imean a whole lot bigger than Eldora.

Was there in 2000, went down to the infield afterward. Chesson had balled it up, they were salvaging the good parts... seat, engine and the dash panel!

I remember Bristol when Sammy cleaned house. I don't remember where I heard that they took out some of the banking to slow them down. Perhaps Nascar didn't like 410 sprintcars turning lap times over 2 seconds faster than the cup cars. The other thing that stood out in my very small mind is that they didn't sell the 1st 25 or so rows of seats. I would give the nod to Bristol. Not that is saying Eldora is slow.

I'll bring up Winchester one more time in this discussion.   They claim it's the world's fastest 1/2 and JoJo Helberg recently set a world's record according to them.  There's video of it right on their website.

I'm not sure what 12.669 translates to in mph.   I'm also not sure what exact size Winchester happens to be and how it compares to Bristol, Knoxville, or Eldora.    They say it's a 1/2 though, but as discussed that doesn't always mean much.

I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO was built as a replica to Winchester. I attended a few sprint races there when it was covered with dirt, and from a photographer's view from the infield and a fan's view from the stands, I thought it gave me the greatest visual sensation of speed. Don't have any times to back that up. Would be interested in the views of those that raced all these joints. I am absolutely sure that the Rolling Wheels claim of being the fastest is completely bogus considering the track isn't nearly as long as the distance used to compute the MPH, and a track surface that rarely has any real grip.

Simple solution.. Fastest must equal highest top speed. Quickest is lowest lap time and hence the size matters For fastest.. Just ask a team what gear they put in... Lowest number is the fastest..
