I haven't got a clue what to expect. There were only 3 local cars that ran with the 26 travelers that showed up for Cedar Lake's annual Outlaw show. The hoseheads board and the ibracin.com news and rumors site have had a lot of recent posts about teams folding and driver changes which have already started to happen. I'm having some outpatient surgery on Wednesday morning and the doc says to lay low for 48 hours so it's going to be cutting it close for the Princeton National. Ironically the nurse that was in the room with me and the doctor said her husband has tickets to Princeton.
I think you'll just have to show up by the gate with a notebook and see who shows up. Here's one of the posts from ibracin:
SILLY SEASON IS ON -
(9-24-07 @ 10:30 pm) - FACT -
Bobby Gerold is reporting
on www.hammerdownusa.com
that 2008 silly season is on. In his recent article, he states that
Paul McMahan is indeed out of the #20 car. Also, he goes on to say
that Jac Haudenschild is looking for a new ride as the Wright One
Construction car will be parked at seasons end. The Selma Shell #11H
is looking for additional sponsorship otherwise that team will be parked.
The big surprise is that Gerold is stating that the Dennis Roth Motorsports
#83 will be done at the end of the 2007 season as well.....at least for a
short time. Wow, there are a lot of good drivers looking for a ride
for 2008.

Which 3 were at Cedar?
How about Whitney, Sernett, Wasmund, Richert?
Last year there were some other IRA guys that came up.
Thanks,
Tim

Richert, Heskin and I believe Leigh Thomas but I'd have to check my photo CD to refresh my memory. This year's CLS WoO show ran on Sunday in conjunction with the annual Firecracker on Saturday night to make two straight days of racing. Travis was on the other side of Wisconsin with the IRA on Saturday night and decided not to run at CLS.
From the CLS website:
CEDAR LAKE SPEEDWAY NOTEBOOK
• FAST QUALIFIER: Justin
Henderson paced the 29 cars that took time with an AMB i.t. timed lap
around the high-banked 3/8-mile oval in 11.482 seconds at 117.575 mph.
For his qualifying effort, Henderson earned five bonus points. The next
four fastest qualifiers also earned bonus points, including: Chad
Hiller (4), Joey Saldana (3), Terry McCarl (2) and Daryn Pittman (1).
• QUALIFYING WINNERS: Jac
Haudenschild, Kerry Madsen and Paul McMahan won heat races… Randy
Hannagan won the B-Main… Kerry Madsen won the Crane Cams dash. undefined undefined

Sorry I wasn't clear. My list above was speculation for this weekend. Hopefully the weather holds. Any chance Tatnell will be here in the Forbrook #5?

Can't help you there. I've got some outpatient surgery this week so I'm not even sure if I'm going to make it. Most likely if I'm up to it I'll be there Saturday only but Friday might be stretching it.

I hope Bill Balog shows up at Princeton. He likes to run with the Outlaws when he can.

Billy is a lot of fun to watch. The thing that impresses me most about Balog is that he'll race clean without sacrificing the aggressiveness it takes to run up front. A lot of drivers can run side by side but Balog will run closer than a lot of guys are comfortable doing without ever touching the car next to him. Last year at Red Cedar Billy and Sam Hafertepe put on a clinic in the IRA Feature that had the crowd buzzing. Travis was protecting his points lead and he kind of hung back there in third or fourth watching them go at it. That was quite a show.
If you haven't met Billy you'll want to be sure to stop and say hello because he likes to get to know the fans.

I spoke to Billy Balog after the IRA Plymouth show and he said he'd be at Princeton.

I'm feeling like I got hit alongside the head with a bar stool tonight after the surgery this morning. I won't be ready to go by Friday but Saturday should be a go.
