Great choice! love seeing a younger driver get a good ride. There are getting to be less rides and the 2KS developed into a contender to win .There are several top drivers without rides this silly season as the cost versus return is taking its toll on owners. The days of making it on purse money are long gone when motors got over $10K.The McCarl racing genes will be carried on.

Happy for Austin and the 2ks Team, but that also means one less car in a pit area this season as Austin ran his own/family car last year at Badlands and around the midwest. That is concerning to me and makes me worry that we will have some drivers sitting on the sideline this year as there aren't enough rides for guys without them currently.

After a few tough years for Austin getting lots of seat time it is great to see him land a full time ride so his talent can show. This will be a huge plus for Terry as well taking pressure off of him with two sons racing.

I agree. I think he'll park it in victory lane a few times at Knoxville during the regular season next year and also be a strong threat to make the Knoxville Nationals A main. Would love to see both Austin and Terry back in The Nationals A main again like they were back in 2011 I believe.

There are never enough rides to go around unfortunately but maybe this allows Carson McCarl to jump in the car vacated by Austin?

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but is Terry McCarl going to being running Knoxville weekly again?

I wish he was but I'm guessing he will run Badlands again.

Rather than relying on rumors you can go to terrymccarl.com where his team does a great job of updating everything including his race schedule and results. Just guessing it might be a month or so until you see his next years race schedule posted, but when it is you will see his whole year posted. I have followed his website for years and have planned race trips in advance knowing for sure he would be there racing which is great.

Going off Terry's latest press release by Bill W., he plans on racing his own schedule (not racing for points anywhere).

I guess i read into it this way.....If Price Chopper and HiLand Dairy stay on board in 2017 as major partners, he's racing in front of their customers (wherever that may be, in Omaha, KC, DesMoines area, etc. I don't think they've penetrated the South Dakota or Minnesotta market yet, but maybe they have), and will fill in his schedule with other big events in the area (Silver Shootout, Outlaw races, Jackson Nationals).
But if he's learned anything from watching Brian Brown collect sponsors and where he's raced over the past few years it's that you go to events your sponsors want you at to make them happy. Terry has always been a businessman when it comes to his racing, I have no doubt his sponsorships will help dictate where he races. His event at Price Chopper in DesMoines this fall seemed to go over very well for both him and Price Chopper.

I type this without knowing what Knoxvilles weekly payout will be. But I'm going to assume it will stay somewhat the same as it was on nights the NSL wasn't involved. Therefore it will be LESS than badlands payout. I also have not heard what jacksons payout will be. Maybe someone knows. Maybe it's out there and I missed it. Yes price chopper is in the locations you mentioned. But other then that I can't imagine most of his sponsors wouldnt understand if he raced badlands for $5000 instead of Knoxville for $3000. JMO. Also I would assume that snowplow is still his main sponsor and they sell shovels all over the creation and probably don't dictate where he races, at least they didn't seem to in the past. But a true outlaw schedule wouldnt surprise me either. Probably depends on season $$Fund. Someone also made the comment to me that he will want to run Knoxville since Austin will be there. Yes and no. if Carson keeps his same gig as last year, then that would mean one son is in Knoxville and the other is at badlands. Time will tell I guess. I just always feel bad for Lori when everyone is racing in different locations and she can't be in 2 or 3 places at once. Takes a heck of a woman to be a part of a full racing family Like that. - G

Also. Since we got off topic. I think it's pretty cool Austin getting a shot like this. Will be fun to see how he does with great equipment and an owner/mechanic who clearly is solid at what he does. Also comical that the owner said "he remembers when Austin was born" :-)
