Big Game Motorsports Names Kerry Madsen as Driver for 2017
11/1/2016

Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (Nov. 1, 2016) – Big Game Motorsports is excited to announce that Kerry Madsen has been tabbed as the team’s driver in 2017.
“Kerry has proven to be one of the best drivers in the country over the last several years,” Team Owner Tod Quiring said. “We are excited and proud to have him on our team. We are really looking forward to next year.”
Madsen and the Muddy sponsored No. 2 team will compete in marquee events across the country with the debut scheduled for next February at the DIRTcar Nationals in Florida with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
The 2017 schedule will include all of the major sprint car events including the Knoxville Nationals, Kings Royal, Jackson Nationals and Badlands Gold Cup to name a few. The Muddy backed team will also tackle several weekly shows at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, as well as many World of Outlaws races from coast to coast.
“The entire Big Game Motorsports team is thrilled to have Kerry driving the GoMuddy.com car,” Big Game Motorsports Representative Luke Lundt said. “Kerry is a fierce competitor on the track and will be a great representative for our team and brand.”
Madsen is just as thrilled about the opportunity provided by Big Game Motorsports.
“Tod has a big history in the sport,” he said. “I think they have a good team with Guy Forbrook on the wrenches. To me it seems like a simple fit where I can be competitive straight out of the box. It should be a simple transition and I’m hoping to do well.
“If you’re going to be successful at sprint car racing there’s things you have to have. They have all the pieces. It felt like the right fit for me to be successful.”

I'll post what I wrote in another post earlier this morning: "They could certainly put the Madman in the #2 Muddy car and run a similar schedule that he did this year hitting some WoO and also most of the big Midwest Shows. Keeps the car near TQ for a good chunk of schedule + hits bigger shows in Midwest and elsewhere..."
Not a huge surprise here.

Well as soon as Lasoski said on the Pennlive podcast about how some if he'd thought about some season moves and such, and how other drivers calling owners of current rides about possibilities and secret meetings, he;d have seen it coming..it kind of led me to Kerry. I mean he was really the only big name to be ride hunting in the middle of the season. Made too much sense

Knew this was coming today. Just love press releases. Everything wrapped up in to a tidy little package. Makes everybody seem so innocent. Reminds me a lot of Paul Harvey.......you know.....the rest of the story?
As for The Dude being a "one track pony". He's won on well over 130 different race tracks......90 WoO wins and of course 4 Knoxville Nationals on the only track he knows how to win on. And he's won against the best in two eras. Madsen can only dream of a career like Lasoski has had. Don't get me wrong, I like Kerry just fine. But something does stink a bit about this.

Wasn't Danny recently at an Allstars race driving something other than Todds car?

No, Danny was at the Atomic show in the #2. He was at the King's Royal in his in 33.
I find it odd that it seemed like whenever Danny wanted to travel, he did it on his own because the team didn't travel far. But now they are going to travel more?

Lasoski is a one track pony? WoO champion. #7 on all time WoO win list behind S. Kinser, Swindell, Schatz, M. Kinser, Wolfgang, and Saldana.
The guy is 57 to Madsen's 45. I love Madsen. But don't think for a minute any owner would take a 45 year old Madsen over Lasoski at 45.
Upgrade even now is debatable. The only place I would take Madsen over Lasoski no questions asked is Eldora. Anywhere else and its pretty close.

Madsen was faster at the Nationals this year than the Dude and has been for several years. Dude at 45 was one of the best of all time, but I'd take Madsen now.

So, does the lack of any mention of NSL shows in the announcement serve as the final death nail in the NSL. It was pretty appraent, when it was not on Knoxville's or Jackson's schedule. Can we call it dead now?

Wait a minute, do they deer hunt in Austrailia? How's this going to work? God I hope there's a follow up press release stating that Guy Forbrook has been released and they've signed Tyler Swank for crew chief.

If Guy Forbrook is staying with the team Kerry Madsen has one big thing going for him: His name isn't Danny Lasoski. I'm amazed either of the two would even consider working together at this point

Perhaps this change wasn't results driven. I find it shocking that nobody came to the conclusion that perhaps Danny wore out his welcome. The Dude's track records for wins speaks for itself, so does his laundry list of firings.

I believe Danny is one of the few drivers that have never been fired by the #82 BWW car.

Cracks me up every time someone brings this up. Yet nobody mentions how many rides Jac or Sammy have had in their careers. Hell even Wolfgang while in his prime ride hopped more than anybody out there! (By the way, if you haven't read Wolfgang's book, he touches on this exact thing in great detail.) These older guys are a different breed than the cookie cutter politically correct drivers we see now.
Ladies and Gentlemen (if I even dare call some of you that), we are witnessing the end of an era. Can guys like Danny, Jac, and Sammy still get the job done? Given the right situation, hell yeah they can! But, there time is coming. We saw how much Steve fell off the last couple years before he finally realized it was time to hang up the fire suit for the last time.
Danny is 57 years old and has done more in the last 2 years than 95% of sprint car drivers could only dream of doing in their entire career. 19 wins and 2 Knoxville Track Championships, 1 of which was against arguably one of the toughest weekly fields ever in the entire country in 2015 (if I'm not mistaken there were 11 weekly competitors with WoO wins), 2 Knoxville Nationals A Main Starts, etc. etc. etc. The 2 NSL Championships were just icing on the cake in my opinion.
Bottom line, the "school of hard knocks" drivers are going to be gone soon. I know there are a few out there coming up threw the ranks and starting to make some noise (Schuchart, Allen, Balog to name a few) but the guys that grew this sport to what we now know and love aren't going to be strapping in much longer. Enjoy them while you can.
