Hats off to Schatz, he totally dominated. At one point he was the only WoO car in the top ten however, nice run by the Posse. Dewease really made a charge and Shaffer held his own. I guess yellow #15 voodoo doll doesn't work to well...lol. Seemed more like Posse vs Schatz instead of Posse vs the Outlaws all weekend. Kinser really had a tough weekend, destroying two cars in two nights, ripped car in half last night.
They are banning shock adjusters and weight jackers next year. Can run old wing in 2008 or new wing with a wickerbill, changing over to new wing in 2009.
Mega crowd, a lot of money raised for good causes, and fun had by all.
Posse! Posse! Posse!

impact of 2008 rules - does the 15 car even use the cockpit adjusters that are being banned?
thanks to all who helped and attended the Chili Cook Off which just seems to amaze us each year.
rest in peace - the respect shown for Billy Kimmel reminds us of what kind of great character of the people we have sitting in the stands, sending respects from afar, providing track saftey, coordinating and sponsoring events, in the pits and behind the wheel for these exciting - but dangerous race cars
Friday = Laytonized: after surviving nearly a dozen "ill advised" slide jobs from Madsen - Layton earns the rite of passage of FOAW - followed by Stutts who also BEAT every Outlaw as he was closing when they came to the flags. Layton joins the Tilton Hilton after party and receives congrats from VIP section regulars...INCLUDING BRR! excellent job by Chad and Pete's Team who are looking solid for 2008.
Sat = last minute format changes for the weekend did not work out to favor the away team
- fri - top 4 finishers lock into top 4 TTs for the sat night heats poles /
- sat - 1 lap TTs after sun goes down, no invert - head up behind fri lock-in.
- sat TT results - track did not go away - only 7 Oultaws in top 20
- dash only had 2 outlaws, 1 western PA and the rest POSSE! - first time in ages for that mix
- real squirrely format is being rumored for Charlotte - gone are the days of the "rules are rules"
conditions - return of the fans and campers who took a pass during the "split" - excellent attendance. the track was pretty good but many of the cars ran the same line both nights. a completely different mix of locals cars were on the podium both nights...split fields both nights with multi time champions taking provisionals. cool temps - low humidity - horsepower conditions.
Hard Luck - Bob Felmlee had an excellent start to his night but developed motor problems / Leppo's motor was not firing 100% / unusual high attrition with 2 reds AND FUEL STOPS on the initial starts.
Spotlight Performance: Todd Shaffer - 2007 WG Track Champion.
VIP Guest List - Gasitup71 joins us from Ohio - says "Damn this track is big...and they are fliying".
MIA - internationally known photographers and movie fans
Schatz was the only car running the middle in the A main - ala Eldora. 3 attempts to get the race started after 2 open reds before we could get a lap in the books.Rahmer takes it out over in 3-4 before making a lap - sorry I missed the extra curricular activity in the pits! Kinser destroys the car on the FS on the second attempt.
Crowd Pleasing Moment: after a long silence during the weighing of the cars, Schatz comes out of the back pits long after Lance and Shaffer and hangs a hard left to AVOID the back stretch and beer hill fans who had been very vocal the entire night after the total bullshit call on suspect restarts. funny how similar the start to heat 4 looked when Schatz was on the pole and got the "jump". he got booed all night after jumping his heat with no call and then laying back on the start so that he did not have to drag race the Hammer down the FS. the lengthy victory lane intervews were - 3rd place, 2nd place and then 1st place - maybe the TV cameras wanted the crowd to thin so that the booing did not come thru on TV?
WTF: does the pole sitter set the pace to the dual chalk line or not? waiting till the cars are under the bridge to throw the yellow is just another ridiculous replay of what happened earlier this year at the chalk line. the Hammer got screwed and everybody knows it. wish i had a radio - or maybe the corner works are still in the dog house from having a different take on it last time.

…too many memories and good times to list here…from the first Jager-bomb at Smitty's camper to watching the final "salute" to Schatz by Posse fans on the back stretch as I left the track…good, good times…
…I guess your experience in the VIP section is what you make of it…although I took a few well delivered, and probably well deserved cracks about Ohio racing related topics, I enjoyed every minute with the whole crew…they made me feel very welcomed, and by Saturday I felt as if I had sat with them the entire season…BRR, BRR Sr., Skinner, Q Man, 1080, Mr. & Mrs. Smitty, 71fan and his family, and of course Earl and Delores (Leppo's grandparents)…all a classy group…thank you for the hospitality…hope to see you all again real soon…special thanks to Swamp and crewchief47 for making it all happen…
…if I may…
Crowd Pleasing Moment Brad Doty while signing autographs at the Chili Cook-off was being interviewed by the event's MC…the MC asked Brad something along the lines of what he thought of the money being raised for the Posse non-qualifiers…Brad responded by saying, "after last night's performance, they ought to save some of that money for the Outlaws"…they place went wild…classic !

A flawless performance by Donny Schatz! After Friday night, coming from 26th to 4th, it looked like they had found some speed. It sure paid off for them Saturday. Congratulations to Donny Schatz and team for putting on a great show.
Another HISTORY maker.

i have not posted on here for a number of years but felt obligated to after watching last nights race. First of all, man the outlaws look really weak, as weak as I have ever seen. At one point, I thought I was watching a regular friday night show with the exception of schatz. The locals totally dominated the time trials which is unusual. Is the money drying up with some of the WoO teams or what?
Secondly, is this what the WoO has come to? Calling false starts on past winners to get a leg up? Come on! Hammer was on the pole. I don't think I can ever remember seeing the pole sitter penalized for jumping the gun. With that said, It is hard to believe how schatz can be so dominant. He is making WoO teams that are spending a ton of money look like a joke. He was passing people like they were standing still. But not only that.... On the track his car looked totally different than everyone elses. I don't know what it was. Maybe the line he was taking was different or something. Also the horse power in that car must be incredible. He was the only car on the track that was bringing the right front tire off the track almost the whole way down the back stretch. I guess I was just wondering what other people thought about it.

After watching his interview at Eldora I'd say he's a whiner. I guess he's got bionic hearing cause he heard the crowd cheering when he got his flat.

I've seen the pole sitter docked a few times at Knoxville for jumping the start. Theres 2 marks in turn 4, one is the starting line and the other is the "start to gas it" line.

doubt he cares how much he is booed. The joke sure as hell ain't on him. I'm sure he's still counting the dough from the money he won at the Silver Cup, Knoxville, Eldora, etc. not to mention......a couple at the Grove. Maybe next year if he makes it 5 in a row you can help him count it.......................he might even shell out a hefty donation so you can have some cheese with all that WHINE.
When Schatz wins the championship money I bet he'll need help counting that as well. Surely with all the races and big money races and championship he'll end up setting some sort of record. But still with all that said........I still think he is cheating. I don;t think he's the only one though.

he "cared" enough that he avoid the backstretch and beer hill on the way to VL from the scales.
i was very pleased with the performance of our local racers this weekend, excellent finishes and great qualifying - best record this year of all locals against the Donny Schatz support team, including the officials who stepped in and overruled the start when Schatz got passed.

So Schatz has won something like $450k in Outlaws competition. He's won over $150k at Knoxville. I think the Outlaw points title pays $200k. So that's an $800k season and he's still got 8 races to go. He also has to be the Grove leading money winner this year as well as being leading feature winner.
All of this is to say I don't think he needed any help on Saturday to win, and if Esh jumped, oh well. It's not like the Hammer was dominant on Saturday anyway.
