Ballou wins again
By Gary Thomas
Union, KY - October 1, 2007...Despite suffering Jacobs ladder issues early in the main event Saturday night at Florence Speedway, Rocklin, CA native Robert Ballou drove away from the field to win his seventh straight wingless 410 sprint car main event. The 18 year-old beat a stellar field of 42 entries in an event sanctioned by the Midwest Sprint Car Series at Florence Speedway located in Union, Kentucky.
Robert started out the night by picking up the win in the opening heat race aboard the MPHG Promotions, Circle Racing Wheels, Gardemeyer/Finish/Carpentry No. 81. In the main event he had some of the toughest names in wingless sprint car racing around him including Daron Clayton, Jon Stanbrough and Shane Cottle. After getting into the lead Robert made contact with the wall that broke the top straps to the jacobs ladder, which caused the car to bottom out during much of the final 20 plus laps of the main event.
It didn’t phase Robert however, as he drove away to pick up the win and made it seven non wing 410 wins in a row. "The car became a handful after getting into the wall but we were able to march on and pick up another win," Robert said. "Once again I can’t thank my crew enough and all of our sponsors who help out with this team."
The next race for Robert will be next Saturday night as he competes with the Midwest Sprint Car Series once again. This time however, it will be for $10,000 and will come at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. For the latest news on Robert Ballou visit http://www.balloumotorsports.com
