I am sick as hell, so unless I wake up tomorrow and this crud is gone (not going to happen), I will stay home and order the PPV.
I have never done a PPV event. Do you guys just use your laptops and then run it to the TV? If you do that, how to keep your laptop from timing out every few minutes?I have a smart TV, but using the internet is incredibly frustrating.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear you cant make it, should be a great race. When I do ppv, I connect my laptop to the tv with an HDMI cable and then change the source on the tv to whichever one you are plugged into. This should distribute both the picture and sound to the tv.
As for the timeout, go into Control Panel on your laptop and choose power options. In the power options screen there should be a Change Settings link. Set up your machine to never turn off the display as seen here. You will also want to shut off your screen saver if you have one.
I had some screenshots that would help show you the power settings but it wont let me upload them. If you would like to give me your email I can send them to you.

I'll give you another option that I have had great results with. Look for the TVCast app on both your smart TV & smart phone if you have one. You would then set up the PPV on your phone & stream it to the TV. I tried it once on a whim when the smart tv browser was acting up & it worked great. I have used it a few times since then with great results. It seems to hold the stream better than going thru the TV or even thru a computer. I don't know if it is the software in the phone or what but it has been real good.

I just connect my laptop to my TV via an HDMI cable, select the correct TV input, and that's it!

As I have stated in other posts in this forum you won't be disappointed with the PPV from the Big E. It is the best of the bunch, enjoy the show! I hook mine up to a 60" Samsung, turn on a separate sound bar, crank it up and Grin like the old days at my favorite track....

You're just like me.... suffering from "fear of new fangled digital crapola"
I've burned CDs on my laptop many times before, have to relearn it every time. Last time I tried, absolutely failed....
