Fifty-seven cars on hand for the first night of the Open. Layton started on the pole and led the whole way. Good win for Chad after just getting in the Postupack No. 25 a month ago.
T.J. Stutts very strong starting fifth and finishing second. Donny Schatz 20th to fourth and the only guy to really make a lot of forward progress. Schatz looks like the guy to beat tomorrow night. Top four from tonight are on the pole of the four heats on Saturday.
Fred Rahmer (47th fast in time trials) and Paul McMahan (52nd fast time) both took provisionals after horrendous time trial laps left each in the D-main.
