Based on recent history it is safe to assume moving forward that a pause in Facebook posts from him are as a result of jail time. Not sure why he wandered into Iowa given that they were probably not amused with his Facebook comments which since it's a public page they were likely watching. Note to people who chose to violate the law: Law enforcement does look at social media and will use information gathered from it as evidence when prosecuting and making decisions regarding probation / parole. It probably sucks to find that out too late....

I am sure this subject was discussed on here 15 or so years ago but I never saw it.
Since they are both from eastern PA, are Kevin and Rick Eckert related?

Is his head really shaped like that or is it just a bad picture?
Maybe he can study up on his grammar/sentence structure while he hangs out in jail. Good pics put his commentary in Flat Out is hard to read.

Another TDub-esk shame ......Not to diminish The Dean, but Kevin's writing was right up there with Chris Economaki back in the day - not the first read like Mr. Economaki but second or third.....first read in Open Wheel......
And another uncondone-able, but yet funny, post by the Wizz

You ever watch lions at the zoo? You can always tell which ones were captured in the wild by the look in their eyes. The wild cat.
She remembers running across the plain, the thrill of the hunt. Four hundred pounds of kiling fury, locked in a box. But after awhile,
their eyes start to glaze over, and you can tell their soul has died. The same thing happens to a man. Maroin County Penetentiary
is no joke. They'll take a wild man like Kevin and throw him in solitary just for the fun of it. No more races to chase, no more Yuegling to drink, no more weed to smoke. Just a 6x8 cell with no window and only a bucket to sh-it in.

Wizard is a moron. Guess he has been there. Kevin will pay for his screw up and move on not giving a damn what we all think. Right or wrong he is his own man.

I think if we could get inside Kevin's head he would consider it more like a calculated risk than a screw up. He's committed to the nomad "Hunter S. Thompson" lifestyle and you're right, I don't think he's worried about what anybody thinks.
I've been following his posts and blog and it appears to me that he doesn't hold a job but lives off the generosity of the racing community from whistle stop to whistle stop. I've always been surprised that there's still a few bucks being pressed into his hand and a place to crash wherever the wind takes him. In any other scenario that would be considered a homeless drifter but apparently there are people involved in racing supporting that lifestyle.
He helped me get my foot in the door with Flat Out years ago so in spite of his choices and the fact I've never met him I wish him the best. Weed isn't something I'm going to condemn a person for, I came up in the 60's and did my share. Nevertheless, there are choices and adjustments that could have accomidated him and kept him out of trouble in that area. I hear that Washington state and Colorado are both nice places to hang your hat. California will give a medical card to damn near anybody and it's not considered a big deal out there In other words he could have made choices that fit his lifestyle while still writing for racing publications but he would have had to give up the travel.
I've got a feeling that he'll pop up again somewhere someday. He's got too much open wheel racing knowledge to lock the door and throw away the key. Fact is I think at heart he's a pretty good guy that happens to not care much for some of the rules of society.

That's a pretty good observation Stan, especially for someone who never met the man. Kevin is Kevin, he's a throwback to a different generation, he is harmless for the most part, hardly the 'criminal' as mentioned earlier in this thread. He has made a few enemies along the way with his views on death, religion etc etc but they are HIS views and he hasn't changed them at all over the years.
Those that know Kevin and are friends with him are not likely to change their views either, we all have our skeletons it just seems that Kevin's are more exposed and he could care less. My relationship with Kevin was mostly work related photo wise, but I allways enjoyed debating and discussing our sport with him, few are as educated or knowledgable and nobody will argue that point.
I hate for his situation but he only has to look in the mirror to blame soneone for it. Having said that, I would do anything I could to help the man because he has never wronged me and only provided fun and education along the highway to me. Kevin, if you get to see this thread someday I do hope things will work out for you and you get to Keep on Truckin' so to speak, all the best.....

His opinions on religion don't automatically translate to his lifestyle. My views on the subject are pretty close to Kevin's and don't automatically translate to his life choices. I'll be 65 Saturday, raised four kids, have seven grandkids and have been tied to the system my entire adult life. My opinions on religion were formed by 25 years as a minister so I arrived at the same place as Kevin by a different path. Ones beliefs have no bearing on their fondness for Sprint Car racing and I don't stick my nose into what others believe. That should be a non factor in this discussion.

You want to flip your nose in to the air and insult the state officials then take your medicine like a man. He got what he deserved plain and simple. No one is above the law and to talk smack about the police officers that do their job and then always have an excuse doesn't bode well with me. I don't have a problem with people having different opinions about all sorts of subjects but if you want to play by your own rules that's a different story. I hope he gets all the time he has earned. After I heard about his last high speed chase I realized what a low life he really is. Can't wait to see who he blames for this one. Like MSPN said, alls he has to do is look in the mirror. Hell, even his brother has pretty much gave up on him.
