Maybe some people on here can shed some light on a couple of things....
Why is it that you will have 50 305's sprints show up to run 3 nights, paying pitpasses, fuel, tires, lodging, eats etc....for 1700 to win.............
When there was a 305 race that was publicized, advertised, and promoted, one night, $1500 to the winner with an open tire rule and $25 dollar pit passes, no entry fee that only had 24 cars?
Is it because it's "Knoxville"?? Is it because when they had 360 races in Des Moines on Fridays even the guys from Des Moines wouldn't go because they wanted to save their stuff for Knoxville??
I'm not sure if there are any money racers any more....like the other thread was asking about.
Why??
Because it's "Knoxville"?? I am totally under the opinion that Knoxville will be that last bastion of weekly 410's...etc....etc....in the free world.
Thoughts???
Who's going...I'll probably see you there...why???....uh you got the idea....

I was planning on going to take Late Model photos but that fell through and I'll be staying home. To be honest I didn't even know what the support class was going to be down there. My guess would be that nobody else is running 305's anymore this late in the season and the 50 that entered want to get another race in. Maybe some of them like watching the Late Models, I know guys who drove both Sprints and Late Models and enjoyed both. I wish things would have worked out because this is going to be a helluva show this weekend.

P.S. I posted some of my taxi photos because I knew it would get some of the die hards stirred up. I'm just having fun with you rabid Sprint fans. Sprints are still #1 with me and always will be but I'll watch the sleds sometimes because a lot of weekends that's all we've got running up here. I got to know some of the drivers and even got to like the boxes through the process of osmosis. For me it's either go to an occasional Late Model race, travel 300 miles or sit out half the weekends. I can't afford to travel that often and hate sitting home when there's any kind of racing going on nearby so I tried it and it wasn't so bad. Anybody fortunate enough to watch Sprints every weekend without breaking their personal bank account to do it ought to count their blessings.

Car Count- I believe this is a sanctioned race for the Midwest 305 association, which would preclude their cars hitting another show the same weekend. Also, most teams are looking at what it pays to start, not top end.

So have a 200 to start, 250 to win race and you'll have car counts??

That makes a lot of sense, winner's share is overrated but that's the number that always gets everybody's attention. Obviously if 50 cars show up you're only going to have one winner so guys want to know that they're going to have a chance to cover some of their expenses.
The 305's are going to be a good support series for the taxis with that many cars and some of the well known drivers in the field. Actually, 50 305's would be worth seeing as a stand alone show but they need something else on the card to draw enough fans to make a buck. Knoxville fans have a reputation for supporting 410 racing to the exclusion of other types of Sprints.
I'm listening to the ADN broadcast and they're talking to Birkhofer right now. The 15b is a good one, I've seen him win a few and he's got as good a chance as anybody. Should be a good show. I wish I could have made it down there. I love shooting Late Model photos, especially when they twist the chassis up and the left front lifts off the ground.
Is Jimmy Mars there tonight? He's my pick this weekend seeing as Justin Fegers is at Lakeside.
