All Sprint Friday Night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway!

Three Different Sprint Series on Tap

Ardmore, Oklahoma – September 12, 2016 - For the final time on the 2016 race season, sprint cars will take to the track at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore this coming Friday night. And when we say “sprint cars,” we aren’t talking just one class of sprint cars -we are talking three different types of sprints utilizing both wings and non-wings.

The Oil Capital Racing Series (OCRS) will make their first and only appearance of the season at the Southern Oklahoma facility and are led by Mustang’s Robert Sellers. Whit Gastineau, Zach Chappell, Sheldon Barksdale, Cameron Hagin, Johnny Kent, Shayla Waddell, Alex Sewell, Shane Sellers and Casey Wills are just a few of the drivers expected to compete. OCRS utilizes the top wing for stability and downforce and run 360 ci- motors with a two-barrel carburetor.

The Sprint Series of Oklahoma (SSO) IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series will make their fourth and final Friday night event at the speedway where Danny Shouse holds down the point lead. Joe Wood, Jr., Brandon Long, Waddell, Chris Kelly, Jake Martens, Jerry Jumper, Cody Whitworth, Sterling Hoff, Loyd Clevenger, Gary Owens, Alison Slaton and Ty Williams are the touring regulars expected.

Not to be out-done and as “Texans” like to do in all forms of dirt track racing in the Red River area, several will be invading the “Sooner State” in hopes of knocking out the SSO regulars and generating IMCA national points. Kevin Ramey leads the group, along with Chase and Cale Parson, Weston Gorham, Chad Wilson, Michelle and Justin Melton.

John Carney, II, Melton and Wilson have picked up victories at previous SSO appearances at SOS.
SSO also utilizes the top wing and run 305-ci sealed crate motors and can compete in such states as Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota to name a few states.

Like your sprint cars “wingless?” This event has that as well as the Wingless Oklahoma Warriors” will be making their final appearance of the season. Shawn Bloomquist has won two of the previous events held while Dereck Cottrell has also picked up a victory. Other drivers expected include Koby Barksdale, Richard Miller, Sheldon Leesekamp, Gil
White, David Baxter, Duane Baker, Dillion Burks, Brent Stapp and Ryan Dean.

Gates open at 5:00 PM with race action slated for a 7:30 PM start time. Grandstand admission is just $15 for adults ages 12 and up; kids ages six through twelve just 10.

Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located off of I-35 to exit 29, then east on Hwy 70 approximately 0.7 mile, then south on Hwy 77 two miles.
