My prediction is 18 WoO, 14 RMMRA and who cares for the other support class.

That's pretty damn close. Counted 17 410s but it was pretty early. Tops 20 for tonight. Not too bad since they haven't been in CO since 05. Track looks dry already. SMH

Ended up with a full field. Good to see. Hopefully there is a nice crowd as well. I love seeing sprint car racing be successful in areas that see little to none of it. Guaranteed there's some new fans being made tonight and that is good for the sport as a whole.

So 5 pm rolled around and I thought whatever, like someone said, enjoy it while it lasts. So headed out there with an open mind.
The track was good for TT and with 3 cars going off 3-4 you could tell drivers were trying to get a fix on this smaller than 3/8 D shaped track. Heats were fine, feature was ok, the 15 car jumped the cushion (if you could call it that) and lost 6 or more spots then battled back for 2nd. Jason J wasn't going to be touched, he was way fast. Huge crowd, ticket line was was so long I just got the pit pass for $1 more which still allowed me access to the grandstand and pits. And when InsY huge it was standing room only And even that was hard to get. The crowd ther would of filled up the back stretch of Knox. Or fill the bleachers at Jackson. Nice turnout for a town of 780 people. Of course, 95% came from the springs and other towns. They had a great band before the races playing behind the grandstand and lots of stuff to do. Example, if you could climb in and out of a modified you would get a t-shirt and free rangoons at Huhot, just stuff like that.
report card: racing a c prob and A+ for the local fans who had never seen a WOO/ 410 show. ( I can't coins how many times I heard someone say how fast they were, and how they raced on the top side. Silly 305s

Glad it was a successful show! I figured they'd have good crowd. WoO used to race in Colorado years ago & I'm sure people remember. Midgets used to be big & they still have (paved) circle track racing, people are starved for "the good stuff" ( & I'm not talking ganja.... dispensaries on every corner....)
I hope they keep coming back

Its a pretty nice facility too, good bleachers etc., better than lots of the tracks in Pa. or Indiana (which have MUCH better racing!)

Brian Brown was the only "big" name to surprise us, 24 cars total. Jake Bubak and another guy from Co Springs were the only Colorado cars I believe. A few from Wyoming, 1 or 2 from Montana and a handful from OK/KS.
Schatz fell all the way back to 15th on the first lap slideoff, made his way back to 2nd.
Overall it was better than I expected, I am NOT a fan of slick tracks, but the racing was good (not great). I will give the racing a B, lapped traffic made it more interesting, but Sweet and Schatz both threw a couple of nice sliders I think the promoter needs to get creative with the grader and do something to encourage cars to run up top in T1. Tough to do with the curved backstretch, but I think it can be done.
They were announcing last weekend that the reserved grandstands (3000 seats) were sold out but that GA and pit passes were available. I would say that the promoter has to be happy and this WILL happen again. (hopefully on a weekend so I can get there earlier and stay later).

Excellent!
And I always see a herd of antelopes somewhere on the drive from Denver....don't see them in Pa. or Indiana....

Funny thing is that the 410s were only about 1/2 a second quicker than the 305s last Saturday. I timed them in the lower 13s during their heats, QT tonight was 12.6. Midgets were turning mid to upper 14s two weeks ago.

& Bubak finished ahead of a few Outlaws: Saldana, Shane Stewart, Jacob Allen...
Will this start a new "Outlaws vs. Colorado Cavalry" dispute?
Johnson cheated! Schatz uses traction control!

Kudos to the WoO and the local promoter for paying out a full purse and not trying the "midweek" purse. Big investment, glad it paid off for them.

I was thinking about that wondering if some of the sprints had 360s in them. With the 1/2 sec thing, that doesn't suprise me, but to be fair that was the first time these guys have seen that track and it had to be hard for them to get a hold on it. A few went off 3-4 in tt. Funky little D track, fun to watch, from the backstretch. I hope they come back next year.
