Sprint Series of Oklahoma Ready for “Pat Suchy Memorial” This Weekend!
 
 
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – August 23, 2016 - What is sure to be highlighted on every race fan and sprint car drivers schedule for years to come, the inaugural “Pat Suchy Memorial,” featuring the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series will take place this coming Saturday night at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma.
 
This event honors the long-time Oklahoma City car owner who owned everything from jalopies, super modifieds and championship dirt cars at Fairgrounds Speedway in Oklahoma City from the 1960’s to the late 1980’s. The transmission, auto repair Suchy’s Transmission and Auto Repair owner fielded cars for such drivers as Benny Taylor, Aaron Madden Harold Leep and Shane Carson – just to name a few.
 
This event will pay $800 to win along with a special trophy to commemorate this inaugural event and $275 just to start the twenty car feature finale. Heat race money will also be paid as well as all drivers competing in the night’s “B” feature who do not transfer into the night’s championship finale. The trophy will be presented by Suchy’s daughter, Janelle (Flatt), with many of Suchy’s grandchildren and great grandchildren also expected to be on hand to help celebrate the life of the famed OKC car owner.
 
Officials with the SSO would like to thank the following for their partnership as they are adding to the purse on this very special event: Brand Racing Engines, Jennings Garage, Dan Holloway, Stinger Chassis, Boyd Racing Engines.
 
After suffering a rainout last Friday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, the SSO gets back into race action with race number nine on the 2016 schedule.
 
Current series point leader Andy Shouse of Mustang, Oklahoma holds a 31-point lead over Joe Wood, Jr. Shouse also has the point lead in the national IMCA EMI Racesaver Sprint Car point standings.
 
Touring regulars throughout the top fifteen in the standings expected to compete at the tours second appearance at the Mark Brill owned track include Texan Brandon Long, Shayla Waddell, Jake Martens, Chris Kelly, Jerry Jumper, Sterling Hoff, Gary Owens, Loyd Clevenger and Cody Whitworth. Martens won the only other SSO event at Brill Motor Speedway back on April 23.
 
Drivers also expected to compete include Brandon Jennings, Alison Slaton, Blake Scott, Chad Koch, Sterling Hoff, Blake Dacus, Chuck Bellefeuille, Justin Fisk and more. Over thirty drivers are expected to compete in the ninth race of the 2016 race season.   
 
John Carney, II of Lubbock, Texas leads the series in victories thus far this season with three. Other feature winners include: Long, Martens, Michelle Melton, Chad Wilson and Wood, Jr. In the past six races, six different drivers have reached victory lane.   
 
Also running will be the tracks weekly divisions featuring modifieds, sport mods, economy mods, pro stocks, mini stock and pure stocks.
 
Pit gates open at 5:00 PM with racing slated for a 7:30 PM start time. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults ages 16 and up; $13 for ages 12-15 and all seniors while all pit passes are $30.
 
Brill Motor Speedway is located off of I-40 to exit 186 then sixteen miles north on State Hwy 18.
 
If coming from the Tulsa area take the Turner Turnpike (I-44) to the Chandler exit, then ten miles south of Hwy 66 on State Hwy 18. More information on Brill Motor Speedway can be found on the tracks official website www.brillsmotorspeedway.com or call (405) 769-6927.
 
This is the inaugural season for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Racesaver Sprint Series which has a thirteen race schedule consisting of five different tracks throughout the state of Oklahoma and North Texas.
